Well, asked my 22 year old son.. Read him the following lines (using first names instead of last, and letting him know who was white and who was black). This is a kid (yep, still a kid to me) who tells racist jokes to his friends (to my dismay)..
Swindler then compared her tan to her African-American roommate Bayleigh Dayton. "My stomach is as dark as Bay," she said. "I can't be in the sun for two days straight. … I will change ethnicities. I already have." - Robert said a little racist, but probably not intended as such.
Rummans responded: "I'm looking ghetto here with the skin coloration." - Robert said full on racist.
Rummans also compared fellow castmember Chris "Swaggy C" Williams' hair to that of a "rodent." - Robert said he was unsure, may have been intended as such, or may have been like when I say my hair is a rats nest when it gets tangled too much.

Did I read the article wrong? I thought they were saying their skin color was getting ghetto - from tanning too much? Not saying Bayleigh is ghetto?
I'm so white I burn within 5 minutes of being in the sun. I don't get the tanning obsession anyhow, having had skin cancer once at a young age. Maybe they are viewing their tan as a dirt color? Cause the few times I have tanned, it's looked...dirty hehe Like I was covered in a layer of brown dirt.
