I wasn't going to watch this because it was so political last year as were most all award shows exception country music awards. But thought I would see. Anyway only one drawn out political shot and a couple very minor ones BUT all in all? It went off pretty well and NO HOST
I was glad to see Lady Gaga win . Some donot like her .I didn't when she wore those horrible costumes but since she discarded them  I actually listened to her and not bad.  She sounded shocked and humbkle by her win

We're live blogging the 2019 Oscar winners right here. The 91st Annual Academy Awards will be presented again at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. The show will broadcast live tonight (Feb. 24) on ABC.
After Kevin Hart dropped out, the Academy decided to go host free this year. Instead of an opening monologue, the audience will be treated to a performance by Queen + Adam Lambert! The band is on hand to celebrate the 5 times nominated film, Bohemian Rhapsody.

American Idol season 3 alum and The Voice coach, Jennifer Hudson, will also be performing the Oscar nominated song "I'll Fight" from the documentary RBG.  Other performers include Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper singing "Shallow" from A Star is Born; Bette Midler singing "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from Mary Poppins Returns; David Rawlings and Gillian Welch singing "When a Cowboy Trades His Spurs for Wings" from The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Kendrick Lamar and SZA, who were set to sing "All the Stars" from Black Panther unexpectedly dropped out.
The show opens with a showstopping Queen + Adam Lambert performance! The band performs "We Will Rock You," "We Are the Champions." A standing ovations from the audience follows the performance–a photo of Freddie Mercury fills the screen behind the band.

Next is a montage of great movie moments. Remember. NO HOST. Should be interesting. OH AND THAT SET WITH THE WEIRD BLUE WAVY SHIT IS HIDEOUS.

Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph take the stage. OK they're playing comedy stand ins for an actual host. Thought we're going to be spared an opening monologue? Well. It could be worse. They amusingly present Best Costume Design to Ruth E. Carter for Black Panther. Unlike the folks before her, she's poised! Ms Carter thanks Spike Lee for kicking off her career.

OOOHHHH. The American Idol special performance airs right before the Oscars come back from commercial break. A slew of contestants sing Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now." COOL. (Toldja the clip would be a commercial bumper. Heh.)

Best Adapted Screenplay goes to Spike Lee, David Rabinowitz, Charlie Wachtel and Kevin Willmott for BlacKkKlansman. Jackson nearly lost his mind! Bleeps bleeps and more bleeps! It's Lee's FIRST Oscar. "Let's all be on the right side of history," Lee urges folks to mobilize for the 2020 presidential election. "Do the Right Thing! You knew I had to fit that in there…"

Last year's winner of the Director's Oscar, Guillermo del Toro presents Best Director to Alfonso Cuaron for Roma. It's his second win tonight.

And now Julia Roberts is here to present Best Picture to…Green Book.  Oh, THAT'S going to be controversial.
