Very sad. Grief (at least mine) is an illness from which one must recover, and it takes time. One is not really stable or rational during grief. At least that is my take on it. I am sorry he did not have enough time to recover from his grief.

I would imagine they would have some other actor play the role long enough to write him off or if his character was going out of town at the time of his last appearance, just have the character die offscreen and hold a funeral. I figure they wouldn't permanently replace him with someone considering how long he played the role, so the character will either die or just go away somehow. I watched the show for about 5 years about a decade ago or so, but I remember Kristoff as a younger actor. He was my age and this breaks my heart that he likely killed himself.

Kristoff St.. John Dead - 'Young & the Restless' Actor Dies at 52
Longtime Young and the Restless star Kristoff St. John has tragically passed away at the age of 52.
One of his friends apparently went to check on him at his home in the San Fernando Valley, where he was found. TMZ is reporting that no foul play is suspected and he was pronounced dead on the scene.
His ex wife, boxer Mia St. John, seems to have implied that Kristoff's tragic death may be related to his son Julian's death. Julian died by suicide in 2014 while getting treatment at a mental health facility.
