[Reality-TV-Fanatics] Songland 2020 Episode 2 Recap Ft Luis Fonsi

Songland 2020 Episode 2 Recap Ft Luis Fonsi – Live Blog (VIDEO)

04/20/2020 mj santilli

Songland season 2 continues tonight on NBC featuring Latin hitmaker, Luis Fonsi. Luis is behind the smash pop hit "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber. In the episode, songwriters will pitch their song to the king of Latin pop and the panel. After the panel of songwriter/producers Ryan TedderShane McAnally and Ester Dean work with the artists, Luis will choose one song to record.

Everything you need to know about tonight's premiere:

Luis says he's looking for that perfect "ahhhh" moment that makes him go "I want to hear that again."

The Artists Pitch their Songs

Dyson – "Conditions" – Lauren Dyson hails from the UK and recently moved to Los Angeles from Sweden. Currently, Universal Music Publishing Group Sweden publishes her work. She wrote hits for BTS, Girls Generation, Jo Kwon and more. She's been writing songs since she was eight years old. The song is about a relationship she was in, where her partner was never satisfied. She feels it has a Latin beat Luis will appreciate. It does have a beat. Maybe with the right featured artist this song could work for Luis. Shane LOVES it. Luis doesn't feel the song works from a guy's viewpoint. So he plans on singing it? The panel tweak the words to sound less arrogant. Dyson agrees the song is missing a few elements. Ryan, who had strummed through the whole song, works on a new post-chorus. Ester tinkers more with the lyrics. Dyson is up for anything. The panel appreciates her collaborative spirit.

PipoBeats – Sway – Filippo Gabella better known as PipoBeats, is an American pop singer-songwriter from Los Angeles, California. But both of his parents were born in Chile. Shane tries to decipher the Spanish lyrics and it's pretty pathetic! Pipo has always wanted to write for Luis. Now, this sounds like something Luis would cut. Not only the Spanish language lyrics, but how organically Latin it is. The entire panel moves to the groove in their chairs. Luis calls it "musical caffeine." He identifies with Pipo–they are both artists with Latin roots, but tons of influences. Ryan thinks the chorus is a smash. But the pre-chorus is too complicated. Luis agrees, noodling with the melody a little on his guitar. Luis suggests some rearranging and polishing.

Lauren Martinez –  I Don't Want to Know – An indie artist, Lauren is a Los Angeles based pop producer, writer, mix engineer, and artist from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was classically trained, and homeschooled. Lauren has always wanted to cross over to Latin music. Her breathy vocal is very pop. This is the least Latin song of the three. I'm not sure why she picked this particular tune to cross over? Hm. The panel doesn't seem overly enthusiastic. They think it has a nice melody, but needs more story. When they add the Latin flourishes the song is missing. It still doesn't sound very Latin.

CORii – What If – From Morristown, New Jersey, her latest single is "Walk Away." She was living in Los Angeles, but moved back to the East coast after her husband got his residency there. The song is about a romantic relationship that ended abruptly. She's the best singer of the four. What a big voice! While it's a catchy pop song, I can imagine Luis working with this. It's got a big, hooky chorus. She's good. Dang. Luis is losing his mind. "What the hell!" Ester shouts, "What if you knew you could sing your a** off!" They note how rangy the song is, maybe too rangy. Luis would bump it down a step. Ryan imagines it as a mid tempo acoustic song, with some Latin elements. Him. I'm hearing a dance song. I'm not sure I'm loving this "tasty" version of the song.

Luis chooses three songwriters who will advance to the producers round and they are: DysonPipoBeats and Lauren.  CORii is eliminated. I am really surprised Luis chose Lauren instead of CORii. He felt her song would have to be changed too much to work.

Producer sessions are next.

Shane McAnally produces Dyson's "Conditions" – Shane LOVED the "I can't love you under these conditions," but agrees that the line is too female. He suggests the word "translations" instead.  The panel is awed by her willingness to compromise. But Dyson is the most experienced of the three. She co-wrote pop songs in Sweden for BTS.. She knows how to collaborate. When Shane shares his "lost in translation" idea as a sexy vibe with Luis, he doesn't seem very excited. He calls it a "clunky" word. Shane is sticking to it, though, He and Dyson turn the song into a duet.

Ester Dean produces Lauren Martinez's "I Don't Want to Know – Luis thinks the song has too many lyrics. During a phone session, Ester suggests pulling some of them back. "Less lyrical and more vibe." says Luis. Ester thinks the line "I Don't Want to Know" is used as a crutch, so she pares the line out of the song. What is it Lauren doesn't want to know? Ester suggests punching up the lines to tell the story.

Ryan Tedder produces PipoBeat's "Sway" – Ryan suggests a new guitar riff to Luis over Facetime. He's all for it, as both felt the pre-chorus was too complicated. Luis also wants a new melody and lyrics for the hook. he thinks the word "Sway" is too repetitive. Pipo agrees. Ryan lays down the new guitar riff. Pipo understands that a redundant song is boring. He's OK with adding new lyrics.

The Artists present their newly produced songs

Lauren Martinez – I Don't Want to Know – Ester brought along "Tony" to sing with Lauren. The lyrics are really different! Ester did a good job shaping the song for Luis. Now, I can imagine him singing it. Whoever "Tony" is–I love his voice. Lauren sings only backups here. "This thing just took off!" says Luis. He loves the lyrical changes.

Dyson – Lost in Translation – She notes that although the melody stayed the same, the feel has completely changed. They added a post chorus, and now, Dyson agrees, it's a much better fit for Luis. Shane admits he and Dyson were changing lyrics right up until an hour before the session. Who wrote the Spanish lyrics, though? IRO, who won the Macklemore episode last season, came by to sing with Dyson. This is why Shane makes the big bucks. I didn't know what to expect, but his concept works. VERY sexy. Luis looks happy, finally.

PipoBeats – Sway – Pipo's song underwent the fewest changes. It sounds essentially the same as the original. There's that new guitar riff, and a few new lyrics. "You guys are making this hard on me," says Luis.

RESULTS

The three artists assemble in the room for the results. "This is crazy!" says Luis. He felt all three songs were improved in a positive way. He chooses "Sway" to record. No surprise AT ALL. Pipo is the only one of all the artists who comes from the Latin culture. He was born in America, but spent enough time in Latin America to soak up the influences. It was obvious that Luis identified with him musically. "This song is right for me right now," says Luis, "Because it talks to me.. I feel it. I can hear myself singing it." He adds, "Ryan was able to pinpoint exactly what the song did need, simplified some melodies, added a really important 3rd line in the chorus. I can hear Ryan Tedder all over that line."

Luis chooses PipoBeats "Sway" produced by Ryan Tedder!

The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart Recap 04/20/20: Season 1 Episode 2

BY DOROTHY GALE ON APRIL 20, 2020

On tonight's The Bachelor Listen To Your Heart season 1 episode 2 as per the ABC synopsis, "Jamie goes on a date with Trevor but their happiness is threatened by a beautiful blonde; Chris and Bri spend their day in Hollywood's Guitar Center; Sheridan and Julia sing a duet at the iHeartRadio studio."

We will be blogging tonight's episode of The Bachelor Listen To your Heart and you just know there are going to be tons of drama, catfights, and tears. So come back tonight between 8 PM – 10 PM for our live The Bachelor Listen To your Heart recap. While you wait for our recap make sure to check out all our The Bachelor photos, spoilers, news & more, right here!

Matt feels relieved that he is still on the show, the guys have the roses this week and he is happy that the woman will have the pressure this week.

It has been over three years that Chris has fallen for anybody, he has been down emotionally all lot, and hasn't let anyone in.

Chris Harrison arrives in the morning to talk about the week. There are eight men and eight women, there will be newcomers coming. There will be more dates, time to have one and one and forge relations. Chris has the first date card, he leaves it on the table and wishes them a good week, tells them to listen to their hearts. Julia is bonding with Brandon, but she also gave her rose to Sheridan. The date card is for Jamie, "grab your guitar and your guy, go make beautiful music." Jamie chooses Trevor, and she is so excited. Mel is really disappointed if she doesn't get to know someone on a deeper level she may be going home.

Trevor and Jamie are in Venice Beach, California. They sit down on the grass and talk, she says she got music from her grandmother. She is used to just being in her bedroom hiding and singing. He tells her if she leads the vocal, he will do the guitar. She thinks it is really sweet that he wants her to be comfortable. Jamie doesn't think anything can go wrong, he is such a gentleman. In the meantime, another woman enters the mansion; Natasha is 33 from East New York, she doesn't beat around the bush and says what is on her mind. She is not a diva, but she is a diva.

Jamie and Trevor perform on the boardwalk, she is so happy and never thought she would feel this strongly about someone so quickly. Natasha enters the house, Mel says the shoe has dropped, Natasha is attractive and stands out. Obviously, the woman feels it is their territory and feels intimidated. Natasha starts talking to everyone about Trevor and Jamie, and she asks if that is the Trevor from American Idol, because she is actually friends with his ex and she has heard all the things. Meanwhile, Trevor and Jamie are enjoying their date. His ex told her there were indiscretions and that is why they broke up.

In the hot tub, Jamie tells Trevor that every guy she dated cheated on her. Trevor tells Jamie about his last relationship and he says they just were not compatible and he stayed in it too long because he was afraid to let her down. Back at the mansion, Natasha is giving everyone an earful and a lot of the women are mad, they don't want Jamie hurt.

Its nighttime, Natasha is still talking about Trevor. Jamie and Trevor are back, they had an amazing time on their date. Jamie felt a really strong connection and knows he was the one she was supposed to be on the date with. The two meet Natasha, she tells Trevor right away that they know each other. She asks him if they can have a chat, and when he wants to get settled first, she tells him they need to have a chat now. Natasha and Trevor sit down, she tells him that she knows Sierra, his ex-girlfriend. She says that Sierra told her that he lied to her and cheated on her.

In the meantime, the women are telling Jamie the same story. He tells her that he didn't cheat on her, he was un-happy and he emotionally cheated on her. He says he didn't go into the details about his relationship with Sierra, with Jamie. Trevor says the lying and the cheating didn't happen. He says there was emotional cheating, and maybe some lying. Jamie is crying, she told Trevor in the hot tub that she had been cheated on by every guy that she has dated. Natasha asks Trevor if he is going to tell Jamie he truth, he says yes. Meanwhile, Jamie is hysterically crying over this.

Another date card arrives, this one is for Bri, "bring the guy who is at the center of your heart." She gets down on one knee and asks Chris, he feels really special. This is the first real date she is going to have since her engagement ended. They are going into the Guitar Center, this is the most iconic guitar store; it is like a candy store to a musician.

At the mansion, everyone is talking about Bri and Chris, they love the two together and it kind of happened out of nowhere. Chris starts playing the guitar and Bri sings. Chris has never had a connection with anyone like Bri, there is still so much he wants to know about her. She tells him that she was engaged a year ago. She was with her mom, dress shopping and they found it in Milan.

He called her in that second and told her not to buy it. She thinks that some people can be so cruel, to do it to her like that, he obviously didn't love her. She just wants to find love, and she feels an immediate attraction and connection to Chris. He says he is falling for her to, even though he is afraid to admit it. He is so happy that is Bri is letting him potentially hold a piece of her heart. The two sit down to the piano and sing, "Can't Help Falling In Love."

Trevor sits down with Trevor, he tells her that Natasha was friends with his last girlfriend. He reminds her that he mentioned he stayed in his last relationship because he didn't want to hurt the person, and he ended up hurting them in the long run because there was some emotional cheating because there were some text messages to another girl. He didn't physically cheat on her. She says that cheating is a deal-breaker for her and she didn't think he was like that. He says he would be pretty sad if things didn't work with her because he hasn't connected with anyone else but her. They hug and tell each other that they really like one another. She says she wants it to work out. He says he is sorry again, she didn't deserve this after they had such an amazing day. They kiss. Away from him, she says she won't feel comfortable until she gets his rose.

Another date card arrives, this one is for Sheridan, "choose a woman you are ready to go public with." Sheridan asks Julia to go on the date with him, she says yes and gives him a big hug. From night one Sheridan has been zeroed in on her and she is excited. She has Cystic Fibrosis and it usually doesn't go well with dating. Sheridan is happy to get away from the drama and distractions in the mansion. He hopes he can bond with her today and she will forget about Brandon. Danny thinks Julia still has a strong interest in Brandon, but he is rooting for Sheridan.

Sheridan and Julia join a radio station "on air." Sheridan has a lot of good things to say about Sheridan.. She reveals to the panel that she has kissed him. She admits that she has kissed others, he hasn't.

Ai the mansion, Matt and Rudi are bonding and she is hoping she can get to sing with him one day.

Sheridan and Julia are asked to perform live, they literally have minutes to prepare. They do an amazing job, throughout the whole song, Sheridan holds her hand, at the end of the song, she kisses him.

At the mansion, can smell the tension in the air, something is about to go down. Two more women arrive in the house; Mariana is 23, a Leasing Agent from Dallas, TX, and Ruby is 25 and she is a Private Music Instructor from Austin, TX.

Mel is interested in Brandon, but he is a hot commodity right now. She has a hard time opening up but knows she has to do it or she is going to be going home. Mel hasn't met anyone like him. He tells her that he grew up in a family that hugged all the time. She says hers was the opposite. He challenges her to hug more often and tells her that his arms are wide open. Mel hopes for a date, she thinks it will really help them. A new date card arrives, this one is for Savannah, "pick the guy who is hitting all the right notes." Savannah chooses Brandon to go on her date with her. Mel is broken, she feels horrible. Mel leaves the room and heads upstairs so she doesn't have to cry in front of everyone.

Savannah and Brandon head to the Dresden, a well-known jazz club in Los Angeles. She feels like she has a connection with Brandon, but there are a lot of women vying for him. He says he had a suspicion that she would ask him on the date.

On the date, there doesn't seem to be a real connection between the two. Julia and Sheridan have become so close to each other since the date. They are back and both and smiles all over their faces. Julia finds out that Brandon is on a date and even though she had a good time with Sheridan, she can't help but feel weird. Meanwhile, Savannah and Brandon get up to sing in the jazz bar. He is a much better singer than she is.

Sheridan came into this whole thing skeptical, but he is ready to fall in love again. Julia sits down with him and tells him that she want to be transparent, Brandon and she has been talking and she is not sure if there is anything there, but wants to feel like she can have those conversations.. He is blindsided. Even though it sucks, he is still into Julia.

Time for the cocktail party, Chris Harrison tells everyone to secure their place because three women are going home. Mel is hoping to find out where Brandon's head is at, but so many women are after him. She puts herself out there and she kisses him, way to go Mel. Sheridan is rooting for Mel, but we know he has an interior motive. Julia sits down with Brandon to talk. She tells him that she is torn because she has connections with him and Sheridan. He tells her that he is definitely leaning towards Savannah. She calls her odd. Then she leans in and kisses Brandon.

Time for the Rose Ceremony, anyone guesses what is going to happen.

Chris = Bri
Trevor = Jamie
Matt = Rudi
Ryan = Natascha
Danny = Bekah
Brandon = Savannah
Gabe = Ruby
Sheridan = Julia

Mel, Cheyenne, and Mariana are sent home.

THE END!

James Taylor is here tonight as a mentor. James and John talk. They plan to watch a singer by the name of Thunderstorm and Mandy perform. Mandy takes the stage first to sing Stand By Me. John loves Mandy's range and control. James likes her tempo and melody. It is very fluid. Thunderstorm chooses to sing the song Preach. They both love his energy and voice. Now the two will take the stage to perform for all of the judges and audience.

Mandy goes first. The audience loves her rendition. Thunderstorm takes the stage next. Nick votes for Thunderstorm. Kelly thinks Mandy dominates just slightly.. Blake liked them both. It is now up to John. He chooses Mandy. She is moving on.

Nick and James meet with Arei and John. Arei sings first with an Alicia Keys song. They love it and give her a few pointers. John goes next. He sings an Ed Sheeran song. Again, they love his talent too..

Arei takes the stage first with her Alicia Keys song. Kelly is really enjoying the song. sings next. The judges are impressed with his range. Kelly thinks they are both great. She thinks Are did great. Blake would pick John. John Legend loved them both. Nick hates that he has to do it but he picks Arei.

Kelly and James meet with Micah and Tayler. Micah sings a Halsey song. They love it but want to make it a little moodier and dark. James Taylor plays a little riff on his guitar, nailing the melody and mood immediately.

Tayler is up next, she sings Time After Time. They slow it down a bit and it sounds perfect. Kelly just wants to give her more time to sing since she is a different artist than Cindi Lauper.

The two take to the stage to perform. The audience equally loves them. Blake and John like them both but Tayler seemed to be a bit stronger. Nick also thinks Tayler is great although they all agree Micah has talent. Kelly thought their song choices were challenging and beautiful. Kelly is torn and needs a minute. She goes with her gut feeling and picks Micah.

Micah is relieved Kelly sees his potential. Nick wishes he could steal Tayler. But he doesn't have any left..

Nick and James Taylor meet with Nick's singers Allegra and Jacob, who sings first. James tells Jacob his vocals are great. He just needs to move a little on stage. Allegra sings next. They clap. They love it. They give her some pointers on the high notes.

Allegra hits the stage first singing Chandelier. They love her. Nick stands after to applaud her. Jacob takes the stage next and sings Circles from Post Malone. Kelly loves his Post rendition.

Kelly loved them both! Blake agrees. But thinks Allegra could be the season winner. John thought they were both great and would have a hard time picking. Nick is stumped but forced to make a choice, he picks Allegra.

Singers Toneisha and Cedrice come into see Blake and James Taylor. They cannot believe James is here. After they all talk, Cedrice sings a Rihanna song. They think she made a good choice.

Taneisha has been singing for a long time thanks to her dad who has passed on. She chooses to sing Diamonds from Rihanna. James loves her voice. Blake noticed her nerves. James gives her a trick, telling her he still gets nervous before he performs.

Cedrice takes the stage first to sing Love On The Brain for the audience and all of the judges.

Toneisha is up next. She also sings her Rihanna song, Diamonds. After she is done, all of the coaches stand to clap.

John is thrilled by them both. Nick is impressed by Toneisha, she makes him jealous. They all laugh. He thinks she could win. Kelly thinks they are both very powerful. Blake loves them both. He believes the winner of this knockout is Toneisha. It was a hard decision for him. Seconds later, Kelly steals Cedrice. She cries. She will be on the live show.

For the first time, the show is doing a 4-way knockout. America will vote. They are all nervous. Nelson from Team John will be performing. James Taylor loves his airy voice.

Todd from Team Blake shows off his idea for the knockout with Blake and James. They think he is going in the right direction.

Kelly and Samantha prep for her performance. She will be singing You Are Always On My Mind. Michael meets with his coach Nick and James Taylor last. They think he is ready to compete with his vocals and song choice.

Todd takes the stage first to perform. Nelson takes the stage second. Michael is tried in the 4-way battle. Nick looks proud. Samantha takes the stage last. Kelly is happy, standing to applaud.

Blake loves Todd's range. John thinks Nelson shows his love for music and he has a gift. Nick thinks Michael has never sounded better. Kelly thinks Samantha has a very unique tone. She is captivating. America will now vote with only one moving forward.

THE END!
