This article says people speculated that the reason for the divorce was because of Julie because they came out publicly before the divorce was finalized. So I'm not sure. Yea they were living apart but I'm still not sure that he and Julie weren't together before he and his wife were ending the marriage. It sounds more like he was away from her and hitting on lots of women (that's when he did what he is accused of) and maybe he hit on Julie and she reciprocated and they were together and his wife found out and filed for divorce.
