'DWTS' Season 25 Cast Speaks Out On Maks And Vanessa Drama

International Business Times Thu, Oct 5 8:20 AM CDT
It's been an emotional week as news broke concerning why Maksim Chmerkovskiy really didn't perform with partner Vanessa Lachey on the most recent episode of "Dancing With the Stars." Now, other members of the Season 25 cast are speaking out regarding the situation.
The drama began after Maks did not perform with Vanessa during "Guilty Pleasures" night on the ABC competition series, and soon after, it was revealed that he didn't rehearse with his partner for the entire week leading up to the show due to issues the two were having with their chemistry, as well as several arguments.

Now, other members of the cast have spoken out about what is going on, including fellow pro Lindsay Arnold, who is partnered with Jordan Fisher. While attending People Magazine's Ones To Watch party in Los Angeles on Wednesday night, Lindsay admitted that whatever drama had kept the teammates apart last week has officially been put behind them, and they are hard at work once again on their routine for "Most Memorable Year" night.
"Maks is back," she said. "We saw him and Vanessa today in the studio. They're excited to be together again."
According to earlier reports, Maks did not work with Vanessa all last week because of clashes they had in terms of their personalities.
"There is a lot of fighting going on behind the scenes," sources said at the time. "Their personalities are very similar so they disagree about everything. They refuse to give into one another. They're playing nice for the cameras but both are miserable paired with each other."
The news was shocking to fans because the two had seemed fine during prior performances, and were even at the top of the leaderboard throughout the competition.
As news of the tension continued to break, Maks eventually took to social media to apologize to Vanessa for missing out, admitting he was excited to work with her again going forward.
However, things seem to have since calmed down between the two, as fellow competitor Sasha Pieterse, who attended the same event as Lindsay on Wednesday night, also saying the two were working together again,
"I don't know what was going on but all I know is that he had a personal issue, a family issue. Alan was great and now [Maks and Vanessa] are reunited," she said.
Though he hasn't spoken out on his own, Vanessa's husband, Nick Lachey, who is competing alongside Maks' wife, Peta Murgatroyd, has reportedly been very supportive of his wife as she has dealt with the alleged drama.
"Nick is a huge support to his wife and is so proud of how hard she's working at learning to dance," a source told Us Weekly.
The same source also insisted that Vanessa has been extremely professional on set, potentially hinting that the problem lay more with Maks than it did with her.
"Vanessa has been nothing but professional on set. She has been friendly and upbeat with everyone, she signed up for 'Dancing With the Stars' to learn to dance but more importantly, to have a good time and it shows," the source said.
As for what Vanessa and Maks will dance and what song they will choose for "Most Memorable Year" week? That is currently unclear, though it should be a nice treat for fans to see the two working together once again.
"Dancing With the Stars" airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
