Sunday's 2017 American Music Awards celebrates the hottest music from the last year. Gossip Cop has a full list of the winners below!
As Gossip Cop reported, the nominations for this year's AMAs were announced in October. Bruno Mars led the pack of nominees with eight nods. That includes the top prize, Artist of the Year. He's competing against The Chainsmokers, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Ed Sheeran. Oddly, not a single woman is nominated for that award. But Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Alessia Cara are the contenders for Female Pop/Rock Artist, while there's a smattering of women up for other categories, such as Female Soul/R&B Artist and Female Country Artist. Those nominees include Beyonce and Carrie Underwood.
Similar to the Billboard Music Awards, the AMAs cover a wide variety of genres, including EDM, Alternative Rock, Contemporary Inspirational and Latin. And the categories highlight not just artists, but albums and songs, too. The American Music Awards calls itself "the world's largest fan-voted awards show… where music enthusiasts watch their favorite artists and pop culture icons come together to honor idols, newcomers and record-breakers in the contemporary music scene." While fans were able to vote online for the winners, the nominees were selected based on "key fan interactions as reflected in Billboard Magazine and on Billboard.com, including album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, social activity and touring."
Of course, one winner is already known in advance of tonight's ceremony. Last month, the AMAs announced Diana Ross would receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Her daughter, Tracee Ellis Ross, later signed on to host the star-studded event, which will air live on ABC from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Gossip Cop will update the winners list as each award is announced. In the meantime, check out all the categories below!ARTIST OF THE YEAR
