Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers is finally here, and it looks like season 35 is going to be very interesting. In this episode, titled "I'm Not Crazy-I'm Confident," we meet the 18 new competitors, who are divided into tribes based on how others perceive them. The castaways will once again be competing in the Mamanuca Islands in Fiji.

I am interested to see how the division of tribes will influence the social game and alliances. I think that this twist will refresh the series and add another layer of game play.

Meet Your Tribe

We meet the Survivors on a boat, where they get a rousing pep talk from host Jeff Probst. The Levu Tribe (blue buff "Heroes") are associated with such traits as courage and idealism. Jeff asks Ben (who is a Marine and wears a cowboy hat) if he has been associated with these words before. He responds that serving his country is just doing his job. 

The Soko Tribe (yellow buff "Healers") help others heal their physical or emotional wounds. In this group, Jeff singles out Cole, who is a wilderness therapy guide for struggling teens. He also talks to Mike, who is a "sex doctor" and urologist. I already love him. His family thinks he is crazy, but he is there to fulfill his Survivor dreams, and win the million dollars.

Finally, we meet the Yawa Tribe (red buff "Hustlers") who are hard workers, and respected for their dedication. Still, if you are a hustler, and not a hero or healer, it must be a bit of a let-down. Ali is a celebrity assistant and wears many hats. Ryan, who is a bellhop, is a hoot with his humor and observations. He mostly hopes that the men on his tribe can open coconuts for him since physical strength is not his best attribute. 

The contestants must load as many supplies from the main boat to their smaller canoe-type boat as they can. There is a secret advantage hidden among some bunches of the bananas. There is also a burning urn fifteen feet high above the beach, and the first tribe to lift one person high enough to light their torch wins a huge kit for making fires. The second-place tribe wins flint, and the last tribe gets nothing.
 

It is a mad scramble, and Ryan grabs the secret advantage package and hides it is in his pants. The Hustler tribe is in trouble right away, as they are heading away from the beach. The Healers hit the beach first, followed by the Heroes. The Healers win the fire-making kit, and the Heroes win flint. The tribes then get back in the boat to follow their maps to their beach. 

The Soku Tribe

At the Healers' camp, Jessica, who is a nurse practitioner, has the hots for Cole, which should make things very interesting, or very awkward. Joe is a probation officer, and he feels that he is in a tribe that he can manipulate easily, and refers lovingly to his tribe mates as "his victims." The group gets along well, which makes Desi, who is a physical therapist, feel secure. Mike feels secure enough to look for an immunity idol, but he is also plagued by fears of being sent home first. Joe doesn't like the fact that Mike is roaming the island, and Mike doesn't trust Joe, either. Mike refuses to let Joe bully him in to admitting that he was idol hunting. 

The Levu Tribe

The Heroes settle in to their camp and make fire. Ashley is a life guard, and she already wants to partner up with "Cowboy" Ben. Former NFL player Alan talks to Ben first, and they decide that J.P. and Ashley will round out their alliance. But Alan thinks that Ashley and J.P. could have too much power as a couple, so he decides to let them believe that he will work with them. That leaves financial analyst, Chrissy and Olympian, Katrina, out in the cold. Ben even calls them the "Mom squad." Not cool, Ben! 

Alan wants J.P. to go for a swim to prove that he doesn't have an idol. Both J.P. and Ashley tell him that he is crazy, but Alan hopes that the conversation is enough to make people suspicious of the duo. He also convinces J.P. to strip so that he can search his pants. Alan's paranoia causes Ashley and J.P. to consider him a liability. 

The Yawa Tribe

At the hustlers' camp, Lauren, who is a fisherman, takes control and everyone works together to set up camp. Ali notices that Patrick, who is a small business owner, is very social and friendly with everyone, and she wants to talk to him about working together. The fact that Patrick is holding a huge insect that he may want to eat doesn't deter her. Patrick agrees to an alliance, but he also plans on keeping his options open. 

Talk turns to whether someone on the boat found a secret advantage, or if it was overlooked. Ryan, of course has it and he is thrilled that it is an immunity "super" idol. The idol can be played after votes have been read, and will automatically save whoever it is played for. There is a rather big twist though -- it can only be used at the first tribal council. If your tribe is granted immunity, you must send the idol to a person who is going to the first tribal, and they will not know who sent it to them. Wow!

Ryan takes a shine to Devon, who is a surf instructor, and wonders if they would work well together. Ryan tells Devon about the super idol, and assures Devon that he would play it for him. Both Devon and Ryan feel like this is the beginning of a beautiful partnership, so that means that it will probably implode momentarily. 

Immunity Challenge

The tribe members must race up a cargo net to the top section of a tower, and then pull a cart up. The, they will hop in and ride it down to the bottom. Yikes! There are three table mazes, and the first tribe to reach it, gets first choice, and so on. The maze must then be hauled to the top of another tower, where two tribe members will tilt a ball through the maze and into an opening. The first two tribes will win immunity, and the third tribe will attend the first tribal council of season 35.

This challenge is grueling. For the Heroes, Chrissy and Ben tackle moving the balls on the maze, as do Devon and Ali for the Hustlers, and Mike and Desi for the Healers. The Healers win the first immunity, and the Hustlers win the second immunity idol and flint.  Say hello to tribal council, heroes! 

Chrissy collapses on the platform and starts vomiting, but declines medical help. It is heartening to see her fellow tribe members rally around her. Distrust between Alan and the rest of his alliance is growing, but they all agree to vote for Chrissy or Katrina. Katrina talks to Alan, and he calls Chrissy over to discuss options. Ben also joins them, and they discuss being a solid four and sending Ashley home. Ben isn't sure what to do, but he knows that he and Alan are sticking together. As she is getting ready for tribal, Chrissy finds the super idol from Ryan. 

Tribal Council

Chrissy discusses feeling like Ashley, Ben, Alan, and J.P. would band together, leaving she and Katrina in danger. Ashley calls out Alan for his paranoia. Chrissy confirms that tribe members were concerned about J.P. and Ashley as a "power couple." Alan responds that he is confident, not crazy. He also spills that everyone wanted to get rid of the two older women. Ben confirms that there was a plan, but now nothing is certain. 

The Vote

Katrina gets four votes, and is voted out.
