The Masked Singer 3 Recap: Group A Top 5 Results (VIDEOS)
Llama
Clues: Llama plays an accordion onstage with a music stand. Kind of like a joke act. Or a game show! His strategy is to approach the competition the same way as he approaches his career. "For awhile I was spinning my wheels, but then I envisioned by success–and to think on my feet." He performs to an audience full of security guards. "For awhile I was spinning my wheels…think in my feet. And tonight I'm visualizing that I'll crush it. I'll be the greatest of all time the GOAT"
Miss Monster
Clues: Miss Monster can now focus on "being an artist," she says as Mr. Monster lies on a cushion surrounded by candles and flowers. "Draw me like one of your French monsters," he says, a Titanic reference. After drawing a butterfly, she pulls away the paper to reveal a chess queen. "You've got to stand up for yourself in this dance," she says.. "Tonight I want you to see I'm like Mr. Monster. Capable of anything and full of love."
White Tiger
Clues: The security guards are hanging out in a library. One is reading a book "Wild World of Cats." He's working hard to "put the mass in mask." There's a photo of a skiing cow. His motto is "work hard, play harder." Tiger adds, "I'm no stranger to celebrating. I love a good block party. This may sound kind of crazy, but dancing heals my body after taking a beating." White tiger is ready to "cut a rug" on the stage and "tear it up." He rips up a pinata.
Performance: Good Vibrations by Marky Mark – He's totally not a singer, but giving the performance everything he's got. He's bringing his own rhymes! He tosses his microphone, proving that it's just a prop. Robin calls his energy infectious. "You could have muted the song, and it still would have been entertaining." Nicole calls it "conviction" Nick thinks it's another C word. Nicole reminds him that it's a family show! "I was voted most likely to go to a mat for a friend, and I literally did." Jason guesses Hulk Hogan. Robin notes that the clues indicated a Super Bowl winner. He guesses Charles Haley or Rob Gronkowski. Robin remembers that he guesses Sean White for Lil Wayne so…But he's correct this time.
Internet Consensus: White Tiger is most assuredly Rob "GRONK" Gronkowski formerly of the New England Patriots. The skiing cow…Kow Ski…get it? Ha. Also he played for the University of Arizona WILDCATS in college (hence the book). Gronk has the reputation as a party boy, who loves to ride around in a party bus. His family even rents one out. Also, he talks about not being a stranger to celebration–the Patriots have won numerous Super Bowls. On a serious not, Gronk retired from the Patriots last year due to injuries. He's talked in interviews about enduring pain, which relates to the clue, "dancing heals my body."
Kangaroo
Clues: "Kangaroo Kourt" reads an orange sign. Kangaroo says, "I should be at 100," says Kangaroo who feels like she's been watching her life from the sidelines. She says, "Sometimes it feels like everyone is against me. But I know I just need to have courage and get back in the game." A bunch of makeup is displayed on an exercise bench. She stops a basketball with her foot and then plays with the security guards who all have a No. 23 on their shirts. "You may underestimate me, but that's OK. I'm owning this underdog story and I'm not pulling any punches." She adds, "I've got to be a role model for my little roo."
Performance: "You Know I'm No Good" by Amy Winehouse. I really like Kangaroo's throaty soulful alto. She's good. She has a few dance moves as well. Robin calls her the front runner. Hm. Better Miss Monster? "I was voted my likely to appear on a list with Seal and Mike Tyson. And I might have been." Robin guesses Candace Parker from the WNBA. Jason guesses Tatyana Ali. Ken guesses Gabrielle Union because her husband Dwayne Wade was an NBA player. The sports references are pulling the judges off the path, I think.
Internet Consensus: The Kangaroo is Jordyn Woods from Life of Kylie. I really don't know? Kylie runs a makeup empire. The "little roo" could refer to Jordyn's little sister. That's what the internet says, anyway.
Turtle:
Clues: "Being here gives me an opportunity to break out of my shell," says Turtle. As he picks up a school lunch of apples and cookies? Turtle says people have always expected him to act a certain way. The guard cuts up a plastic beverage ring. A sign says "Midterm today!" Turtle says he wants to rebel, as he pulls a fire alarm. He transforms into a rocker. "Don't Rave Ever At My School – Turtle" Turtle writes on a chalkboard ala The Simpsons.
Performance: Say You Won't Let Go by James Arthur. Turtle has a Disney like boy band pop vibe, for sure. This is a good song choice for him. He'll be sticking around for awhile. Robin calls it beautiful and dynamic. Jason says, "You gave the rest of the contestants a "shellacking" Turtle says, "Turtally." Har har. "I voted most likely to hunt for booty. And I have often." Nick asks "Is that legal?" Ken guesses AJ McLean from Backstreet Boys. Robin thinks it may be a rocker–Billie Joe Armstrong. Jason guesses Darius Rucker. Uhm. Jason's guesses are terrible. Nicole is sticking with Zach Zefron.
Internet Consensus: The Turtle is pop singer Jesse McCartney. The clues ARE harder this year, but people are still guessing them. As a youtube sleuth pointed out-the chalkboard acronym spells out "Dream Street" which is Jessie's former band.
RESULTS: Llama is heading home! Didn't I say he was in danger? Final Guesses – Nicole: Woody Harrelson. Robin: Adam Carolla Ken: Joel McHale Jenny: Kelsey Grammer Jason: Johnny Knoxville. AND THE LLAMA IS DREW CAREY. The internet got it right.
- The radio DJ clues in Llama's package refer to Drew's weekly radio show on Sirius XM's "Underground Garage."
- The Seattle clues refer to Drew part owning the Seattle Sounders soccer team
- The playing cards in Llama's package refer to Drew's victor in the "Celebrity Poker Tour."
- The firing cannons from earlier refer to Drew's stint in the Marine Reserves. He was a radio operator in a mortar platoon.
- Llama's mention of "spinning my wheels" is a nod to The Price is Right which Drew hosts.
