Re: [FunBBGroup] Changes to Yahoo groups

Really?  Is it set up the same way where you can choose to get emails or not?

From what I've read, groups.io looks like a great way to go.   It was created by the guy behind egroups, which is what yahoo groups was.    And you can import all yahoo groups messages to it.

Do you have to go to Facebook to read messages from the group? I  rarely go on Facebook.
What about IOGROUPS
Most of my Yahoo groups switched to that format. It's close to the way yahoogroups is run.

Yea, i guess that's the best thing to do.  Does anyone else want to create it?  I'm not really sure how to do it.  I guess we can name it the same as here.

Another yahoo group I belonged to went to Facebook earlier this year and it worked out well . Only one member did not join.

Yea maybe. I wish that would go to email too like this group but maybe I'll look into it tomorrow. Or if anyone else wants to create it that's good too.

Just let me know where :).

If everyone is on Facebook, maybe make a Facebook Group?    Those aren't going anywhere soon.   FB is certainly promoting them heavily in commercials.

That's what I'm afraid of. I'm thinking maybe we should go somewhere else or at least make a new group somewhere else for just in case they do just get rid of it. I would hate to lose touch with you guys.

Oh wow.   Reading it, and their hiding groups or making all groups secret and private, it almost seems like this is the first step to removing Yahoo Groups completely.

Apparently yahoogroups is changing the way they are doing things.....  It looks like you will only be able to get posts through email and that we no longer will be able to go through the web site to send or read posts.  I'm not quite sure exactly.  If you are on special notices or no mail I don't think you will any longer be able to read any posts so either you'll have to change it to individual emails so it comes to your email or I am guessing you won't have any access to the group anymore.
Here's the link to the message about the changes and there they have some questions and answers about it.
