[Reality_And_Drama_TV_Shows] 'Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers' Recap: Why an Advantage Always has a Downside

Was surprised at who was voted off I do think the other one should have be booted. One thing I really don't like is when Joes told Ben someone said he swore on his marines. The spaghetti meal was IMO gross and unsanitary. The hog took advantage of eating more then his fair share. LOL
The booted off is the first on the jury.

'Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers' Recap: Why an Advantage Always has a Downside

Last time on Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers, the three tribes merged and gorged themselves with a feast. While they were still basking in their post-meal glow, the contestants got to down to business and the new tribe, Solewa, was torn into two factions: The Heroes and Hustlers alliance, and the Yawa Five. In the end, after a confusing tribal council, Healer Jessica was voted out.

In "Playing with the Devil," we witness the aftermath of Ben and Lauren's decision to be loyal to the Heroes and Hustlers alliance. Back at camp, Joe admits that he never saw Jessica as a target, and he applauds the move as a fan of the show. Ben is pleased with the move, but worries about how long he can keep control of the Heroes and Hustlers alliance.

A Crazy Advantage

The next morning, Dr. Mike is still reeling after his first tribal council. Lauren is doing some work around camp, and when she reaches into the basket of nails, she finds a slip of paper. Hello, secret advantage! She reads it as soon as she is away from the camp. This advantage allows Lauren to secretly not vote at the upcoming tribal council and instead, reserve the vote to use at a future tribal council. This means that instead of writing down a name, Lauren will put the slip of paper in the urn, and take the blank voting parchment with her. This is going to be tricky for Lauren. I wonder how difficult it will be to conceal the voting parchment?

Reward Challenge

For this challenge the contestants must run up a tower and then go through different sorts of obstacles. Then the castaways will use slingshots to fire sand bags at five targets. Every team member must complete the course and fire a sand bag at least one time, and if a contestant connects with a target, they must let someone else have a turn shooting. The triumphant team will be taken to a private island where they will feast on spaghetti, salad, bread, and red wine. (Seriously --where is Jeff Probst hiding the chocolate?)
There is another twist to the challenge: the contestants will randomly draw for teams, and the odd person out, dubbed the "lottery winner," gets to enjoy the reward while sitting out the challenge. The Blue team is made up of Chrissy, J.P, Cole, Devon and Ryan. Ashley, Desi, Ben, Dr. Mike, and Lauren are competing for the Red team. Joe is the lucky lottery winner.
Ben is the first one to hit a target for the Red team, followed by Dr. Mike. J.P. gets the first target for the Blue team. In the end, J.P. clinches the reward for the blue team.

There is also another twist about this Italian feast: it will be served as one big portion, and the diner will eat in private. So, it is up to each contestant to decide how much food to leave for the others. First off, this is unsanitary and gross! Secondly, Cole is going to eat all the food himself, judging from his tremendous and never-ending appetite.

The Reward

The lottery winner, Joe, will decide in what order the contestants eat. Joe decides that Devon will eat first, because it is his birthday. Joe also makes the strategic move of eating last to garner goodwill among the others. He also hopes to strengthen his relationship with the Hustlers through Devon. Cole arrives third, and notes that perhaps Devon and J.P. ate a bit more than their fair share. Cole understands, and plans to also eat more than his share to exact revenge on those that stabbed him in the back. While eating, he notices that the bottom of the plate has a message. It says that there is an immunity idol buried underneath the tribe flag at camp. Cole quickly decides to use a napkin to cover the message and piles the pasta on top.

Chrissy checks out the bowls and other napkins for a clue or advantage, and she soon discovers what Cole tried to hide. Chrissy believes that she is the first person to read the clue, and she hopes that Ryan reads the clue as well. He does see it, and decides to hide the plate in the bushes. (These people have terrible manners!) As the group lies on the beach after eating, Cole hears Chrissy and Ryan whispering about the clue.

When the group returns to camp, Cole leaves the group to "answer nature's call." Ryan seizes the moment and digs up the idol. He shoves it in his pants and strolls away, asking Chrissy to cover up the hole. She does, but Cole sees her and thinks that she is searching for the idol. Cole runs and basically tackles her as Chrissy calls for Desi. Ben charges down the beach and begins digging also.  The others watch the frantic search until Ben tells the group that he saw Cole shove the idol in his pants. Cole states that he didn't find the idol, but Ben insists that he saw Cole tuck his shirt into his pants. A worried Cole is now hoping to win immunity since he doesn't have an idol.

Immunity Challenge

Each contestant must stand on a thin beam while balancing a statue on a long pole. Castaways must move further down the beam at set intervals. This challenge is all about balance and concentration. Dr. Mike is the first person to fall off the beam, followed by Joe. It comes down to Cole and J.P, and Cole wins immunity.

There are four Healers, four Heroes, and three Hustlers. The Heroes and Hustlers think about having all the men vote for Joe, and all the women vote for Desi. Cole tells Dr. Mike and Joe that he doesn't have the idol. The group suspects that the Heroes and Hustlers will split their vote, and hopes that they can sway one Hustler to their side. Joe decides to approach Ryan and Devon, but Ben overhears their conversation. Ryan agrees that Ben is in control, and could win if he makes it to the final three. Ryan doesn't want to endanger his bond with Chrissy by voting Ben out right now.

Ben is displeased that Joe is zeroing in on him, and Joe mentions that he heard Ben "swear on his Marines" to three separate people. Ben becomes furious and engages in a shouting match with Joe. Lauren tells Ben about the secret advantage, and how the downside is that split votes will not work now. Ben turns to Dr. Mike and tells him that he needs his help to vote out Joe. Dr. Mike knows that this could be a perfect time to vote out Ben, who is one of the biggest threats left in the game.

Tribal Council

Joe points out that Ben is causing "chaos" and is in control of the entire game. Ben again repeats that he would never swear on the Marines, and he apologizes for being heated about it. Much of the tribe seems to be tried of Joe's annoying antics.

The Vote

Desi and Joe each receive four votes. There is another vote, and the contestants can only vote for Joe or Desi. Both Desi and Joe will not vote. The eighth person voted out of Survivor: Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers is Desi, and she is also the first member of the jury.

Were you surprised that Joe wasn't voted out? Was Joe wrong to tell people that Ben swore on the Marines? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
