[Reality-TV-Fanatics] Big Brother 19 live feed spoilers: Tree of Temptation ‘results’ (day 73, afternoon)

I THINK I  forgot to post this before the evening spoilers. If this is a repost please accept my apolgy

Remember how the Tree of Temptation was meant to be a possible game-changer in the Big Brother 19 game? Well, about that…
For the second straight week, the houseguests had an opportunity almost all week in order to take one of the apples on the Tree, which could've either helped or hurt their game. However, for the second straight week nobody wanted to go through with it. Every opted instead to leave the tree precisely where it was, and try to move forward in the game without an advantage/disadvantage.

While they may not know it just yet, the people who are going to be hurting the most from not taking an apple are probably Alex and Jason, given that the two of them are going up on the block together and don't quite know that their situation is so dire. If they did, it would probably be worth a shot for them. The other players have done a good job convincing them that nothing is going on in the game,  and they've felt fairly comfortable and at times cocky.
The target, at least in the minds of Alex and Jason, is Kevin. You know that it's really going to rile up Alex when she realizes that Kevin, who she pretty openly hates at the moment in the game, is going to be sticking around for longer than her pending some last-second disaster.

Where does the Tree of Temptation stand among Big Brother twists?

Honestly, pretty low given that this is a twist that accomplished almost nothing. The one time that Mark pulled the apple, he gave Paul safety that he didn't need. The biggest problem with this punishment was that once an apple was pulled, there was no option to replace it. Therefore, there were so many bad options that made taking one a bad choice. It also didn't help that this season has such a cult mentality and people were afraid to go for one, even though it could help their game.
We did think that the Tree of Temptation idea had some potential, but it needs to be experimented with more in the event it comes back. You can't really have a twist when the majority of the options are fairly unfavorable ones to the people who would need its help. Pandora's Box had a similar effect in the that you had a chance at either a reward or a punishment, but at least the odds there were 50/50. (For the record, we still miss Pandora's Box as a twist.)

When's the nomination Ceremony?

Later tonight presumably, and we'll be back before long to have more news on that. While you wait, we recommend that you head over to the link here in the event that you do want to get our review from last night's episode — which we actually witnessed in person! Hopefully, we'll also have our Allison Grodner interview online a little later in the week. (Photo: CBS.)
