The Voice 19 Recap: The Top 17 Live Playoffs Performances (Video)
After the Top 17 contestants perform, fans can vote for their favorites to advance to next week's semi-finals. Also tonight, the results of last week's 4-way Knockout will be revealed. Either Taryn Papa from Team Blake, Julia Cooper from Team Legend, Larriah Jackson from Team Gwen or Ryan Gallagher from Team Kelly will take the 17th Playoffs spot.
On TUESDAY'S Results show, the TOP 9 will be REVEALED. Two artists from each team advance–one via viewer vote, the other chosen by their respective coach. The last spot will be determined by the INSTANT SAVE.
NOW, it's time to reveal the 4-way Knockout winner. OH NO RYAN GALLAGHER HAD TO EXIT THE COMPETITION!!!!!! His mom had COVID-19. Does he have it too? I was suspicious when the Top 17 preview video was yanked from The Voice sites a few days ago.
The artist moving on to the Top 17 and performing tonight is…Taryn Papa!. Dang. I was rooting for Larriah. But Taryn was my second favorite. Taryn is losing her mind. She needs help down the stairs, she's so freaked out. Ha.
The performances will be grouped by team. Team Kelly is up first.
DeSz – What's Love Got To Do With It by Tina Turner – Team Kelly Clarkson – This song is not the most original song choice, but the key is perfect for Desz's burnished alto. She's vamping it up on stage with a ton of confidence. The arrangement here is on point. John compares Desz to an assassin. "Everything was just right," he says. "You are all the things every Texas woman wants to embody," says fellow Texan, Kelly.
Madeline Consoer – What If I Never Get Over You by Lady A – Team Kelly Clarkson – This is a great song choice for Madeline. It's country, yet pop enough to allow Madeline to show off her impeccable phrasing and range. I love her tone. Blake wonders if she's going country. He loves her song selection. Kelly says "Please vote for Madeline, she kicked her own but to get here!"
Joseph Soul – How Deep is Your Love by Bee Gees – Team Gwen Stefani – Poor cannon fodder. Joseph's Knockout was montaged. He landed dead last in our favorites poll. It's a very smooth jazzy performance, but unfortunately, forettable. He needed a big performance tonight to pop finally. Gwen gushes that he showed a side tonight, that nobody has seen yet.. She praises him for staying in tune. Isn't that minimum? Besides, he did have pitchy moments.
NOTE: The NFL Football game will NOW take place on WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. SO The Voice results are BACK ON TOMORROW NIGHT!!!!
