[FunBBGroup] Tough as Nails

Not BB related.

If you haven;t checked it out I suggest the reality show Tough as Nails which is running on CBS now.   It is created and hosted by Phil Koegen of Amazing Race fame.  It is clear this is a show of love for him and one he wanted to make.

So this is a show that focuses on people who are have to do more blue collar type jobs like roofer, fisherman, firefighters and so forth but there are a few interesting ones like deputy and an airline gate attendant (don't sell her short though).

The premise is about recognizing those people who do good jobs who may not have a degree or anything like that.  Roofer Lee is great and he has no social media at all and has no interest in it.

So for the show they split people into 2 teams which as the same for all season and then each episode they have a team challenge and everybody in the winning team gets money.   Then they have an individual competition and the last 2 to finish to go "overtime".  Loser of overtime is out of the individual comp.

BUT.... they are only out of the individual comp.  They still stay all season for the team comps so every person has an arc for the whole season (trusting Phil since we are only half way through).

Show is great and the keeping people around and focusing on the characters is so amazing.  Some of the comps are things like "take this car... take it apart and move it into this box" or "find me an alternator in a junkyard"

Now, here is how much Phil Koegen loves this show. He has become a part of the RHAP coverage of the show.  what you say?   So before the show started Rob did an interview with him and you could tell then his passion for this show - he had been trying to get it made for a long time.  Anyway so after the first shows aired RHAP did their coverage of the first night whcih was a double episode and like normal had questions and concerns about things.  Well, Evidently Phil listened to the podcast so come episdoe 2 he wanted to come on and answer the questions and explain why they did certain things.  Since then he's been on every tough as nails RHAP podcast.  Just finished listening to this weeks and he was already talking about what he wanted to do next week (which was a continuation of a quiz on australian phrases).

It is s dirty jobs type show that celebrates the people who work hard doing manual labor every day but also doesn't try to separate out men and woman and many times the people you think would stand no chance step up and get it done and they are also trying to show toughness isn't being "the rock" but can come in may shapes and forms.

I reccomend checing it out and the RHAP coverage of it.   You can just hear how much Phil loves this show and this is so passionate and important to him personally.
