Governors don't need trumps permission to enact shelter in place/safer at home orders. I think there are 7 states who still haven't done so? Number may be lower, that was the figure I saw Monday morning. I think every state should right now. Yes, it sucks, but getting sick and dying alone sucks more, which is what is happening to people. People who are dying can't have loved ones with them in their final days and hours to prevent the spread of COVID-19. That, to me, is one of the saddest things.

I live in a 55+ community in FL and people here did not wait for our Gov to get permission from Trump to order shelter in place. Everyone here is pretty much home. I have not left my house since 3/1 except to go to Drs. and have my weekly blood draw. Individual cities in South FL issued their own shelter in place rules and closed parks and beaches. Our priests, rabbi, and ministers have had a strong interfaith community and all have turned to zoom for services weeks ago. However, we learned in today's paper that the mayors forgot to include ball fields. One of the health care workers saw kids,4 at the pitcher's mound and 2 at each base playing pitch and catch. Horrifying.
