Tonight, the latest episode of
The World's Best arrived on CBS and with that, officially kicked off the Battle Rounds! Contestants went head to head tonight, and only of the two acts would move forward to the next round.
Justin Flom vs. Jordan McKnight – Here, we had a battle between the magician and then also the contortionist. This one was pretty obvious, mostly because of the fact that Jordan didn't really get a lot of screen time in the audition round.. Winner: Justin.
Lydian vs. Enkh Erdene – How do you even compare these two styles? It's almost impossible since they have almost nothing in common. Lydian also created a big moment with performing the theme from ET, which was especially meaningful to Drew Barrymore, who is a part of the panel. For Enkh, he performs well but he's not necessarily connecting fully to the lyrics yet. Winner: Lydian.
Matt Johnson vs. Li Wei – This was an interesting showdown between a super-talented escape artist in Matt and then also someone in Li Wei who does something on the slackline that is so incredibly difficult. Both of these acts were extremely good and very much artistic and interesting! We actually would probably advance both over Lydian or Justin. Yet, only one could. Winner: Li.
Daneliya Tuleshova vs. Manami Ito – It was the singer versus the violinist in another really close battle! Daneliya is a really compelling, powerful singer who can do a lot of great things with her voice, and we cannot say that this result was a surprise. Manami is fantastic, but we're not sure this was ever in doubt. Winner: Daneliya.
Sister Cristina vs. Dimash Kudaibergen – This was the main event — two really compelling vocalists who have big viral audiences. Cristina did a surprisingly touching version of "Like a Virgin," something that we absolutely didn't expect to hear coming from her. Meanwhile, Dimash busted out "All By Myself" and it got bigger and bigger as the performance went along. This was, in the end, no competition: Dimash is just that fantastic and that special from start to finish. Winner: Dimash.
Overall, this was a fantastic show … but we do wish there were more performances over the two hours.
