RE: [Reality-TV-Fanatics] Upcoming Golden Globes Host Surprisingly Admitted This About Bashing Trump

The Globes are more like a dinner party, like I mentioned.  There's eating and drinking and they sit around tables and chat during the breaks.  It's not like the other awards shows, plus it's right after the holiday season.

Well maybe I will watch this if what is said is true

Upcoming Golden Globes Host Surprisingly Admitted This About Bashing Trump ...

In hindsight, the Golden Globes hasn't been as anti-conservative and President Trump-bashing as the Academy Awards over the last several years.

But the one caveat that should be noted is that the Golden Globes gave birth to the idea of media mogul Oprah Winfrey running for president against Trump in 2020 and then the year before was an "impassionate" speech by Meryl Streep about her disdain towards our commander in chief while never actually uttering his name.Other than that, it's been pretty anti-Trump free.

And thankfully that tradition will continue because this upcoming Golden Globes host has no interest in bashing him at all.

It always seems like the Academy Awards are the end-all-be-all for awards ceremonies because most of the time it is. Especially when you consider that it's the most coveted of the year.

In the past, Oscar hosts included Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, and Chris Rock. They usually go after this caliber of hosts, but you'd never see someone like Ricky Gervais – who has hosted the Golden Globes twice – host the Academy Awards because they would deem him too controversial. They don't want a risk who could fly off the handle at any moment and say something about President Trump that will make millions of people change the channel.

Andy Samberg's counterpart, Sandra Oh, said "No, I don't think I could do that. I don't think it's shallow to [number one] have fun and [number two] be honestly celebratory," adding that she is "not interested in [mentioning President Trump] at all."

That's not only surprising but a breath of fresh air. Many Hollywood elitists would be chomping at the bit about Trump-bashing rhetoric. They welcome it with thunderous applause.

It's important to note that the Oscars exclusively focus on film while the Golden Globes focus on both TV and film so you get two different sides of the industry in attendance, which means more famous Trump-hating celebrities are in the room.

The other host of the Golden Globes is former Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg, who stars in Brooklyn Nine-Nine who received Best Actor in a Comedy Series for that series several years ago.

The two hosts are a symbiotic reflection of the state of the Hollywood industry right now. The frustration from the Me Too Movement and the lack of diversity in film is why they chose Sandra Oh.

She is an Asian American and Andy Samberg is a Caucasian Jewish American. But they aren't necessarily focused on the diversity and they certainly aren't focused on Trump apparently.

Samberg said on this, "It's going to be great. I think people are ready and could use a little smile. Everyone is depressed, and maybe that's as good a reason as any that everyone could use a little time to laugh and celebrate."

This seems like they are just focused on jokes, and by that, probably making the movies and actors nominated the butt of them.

So many of these awards shows pretend as if they are of cultural importance but the truth is that they are the effect of the elitist empowerment.

That's why Sandra and Andy are being pitted together because they aren't necessarily super famous like how the Academy Awards choose their host. Being super famous is a requirement for the Academy.

And it's also likely that they chose these two because they agreed not to joke about Trump.

But that remains to be seen this coming Sunday.
