Police close sexual assault investigation of celebrity chef Mario Batali

Updated Jan 11; Posted Jan 11

Celebrity chef and part-time Michigan resident Mario Batali has been cleared of sexual misconduct allegations by the New York Police Department.
According to the New York Times, the case against Batali was closed because detectives could not find enough evidence to make an arrest.
Three women had come forward to report that Batali sexually assaulted them years earlier at two Manhattan restaurants where he was an owner or an investor.
Batali. a frequent visitor to the Traverse City-area in the summer months, stepped away from daily operations at his restaurant empire and took leave from his ABC cooking show, "The Chew," when the allegations emerged in December 2017.
He has frequently touted the Grand Traverse Bay region's restaurants and featured several on his various TV shows.
