(WXYZ) - TMZ is reporting that Aretha Franklin, who died of pancreatic cancer on Aug. 16 at the age of 76, did not leave a last will and testament.
The entertainment news source says that according to court documents, "the singer died "intestate" – meaning she had no will at the time of death."
Aretha's estate will now be shared between her four children equally, according to Michigan law.
Paperwork filed in Oakland County Probate Court on Tuesday states that Franklin's four sons have indicated that they are interested persons in her estate.
Franklin's funeral is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m.. at Greater Grace in Detroit. The funeral is for family only.
A public viewing of Franklin's body in repose will be held Aug. 28 and 29 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History in Midtown, with the viewing set to run 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. A third viewing will take place on Aug. 30 at New Bethel Baptist Church on Detroit's west side from noon to 4 p.m.
