[Reality-TV-Fanatics] The Four season 2 premiere ratings sink; what happened?

 

I have looked in several places for the recaps of this show. If I ever find one I will recap. I was not that impressed with the show . I probably wont watch anymore. but will recapm if I find anything

The Four season 2 premiere ratings sink; what happened?

The Four season 2 premiered on Fox on Thursday night. Did you even know about it? What we're basically trying to reference here is the massive drop in viewers for its first episode of the summer.

The show's first two hours back on the air drew a 0.7 and 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic, which is down considerably (think more than 30%) from the show's season 1 average. The easiest reason why is simply because it came back far too quickly after the first season and, to go along with it, there weren't a ton of people aware that it was on. Fox totally botched the property by thinking that there were viewers who wanted it so early; they should have just waited until January, which is when season 1 aired, and came on then with a larger campaign and a larger pool of viewers..

In general, we've seen over the years that unless you're America's Got Talent, singing shows don't seem to work during the summer. There just isn't a big enough pool of viewers around for them, nor is there some substantial amount of interest.

Can the show recover from this? Maybe, given that the show's format does allow for viewers to jump in during the season and get on board with some of the contestants. Unlike some other series that are out there, you do have a greater flexibility here with this property than some others out there within this genre. we're just not sure that there's a big thirst for it right now and because of that, we don't foresee the viewership changing substantially over time here.

  

Ultimately, though, we'll see! We've come to learn over time with this sort of show that getting just one viral performer on board can change almost everything … though it's probably harder to find more people with viral potential in such a cynical world.
