One of the most notorious names in Winter Olympics will be heading to the ballroom.
According to Us Weekly, Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding will be one of the 10 contestants in the upcoming all-athlete edition of
Dancing with the Stars. In addition, Us Weekly reports that recent Winter Olympic standouts figure skater Adam Rippon and snowboarder Jamie Anderson will also join the cast.
Harding is best known for the controversy that surrounded her ahead of the 1994 Winter Olympics and her rivalry with
Nancy Kerrigan. Interestingly, Kerrigan just recently competed on
DWTS in season 24. It will be interesting to see if Tonya gets Nancy's pro partner,
Artem Chigvintsev.
More recently, Tonya Harding has resurfaced in the public eye thanks to
I, Tonya, a film that won Allison Janney an Oscar for playing Harding's mother.
While Tonya represents the Winter Olympics from the '90s, more recent champions will also be competing on
DWTS this season. Adam Rippon, the openly gay figure skater who made a splash at the games in Pyeongchang, will hit the ballroom this season, following in the footsteps of male figure skater
Evan Lysacek.
And two-time gold medalist Jamie Anderson will be one of the contestants as well, the second snowboard to participate in the show after
Louie Vito.
It's no surprise that
DWTS is taking advantage of the recent Winter Olympics. With three spots filled, there are only seven athletes left for this shortened season.
Which pros would you like to see partnered with Tonya, Adam and Jamie?
The full cast for
Dancing with the Stars: Athletes will be revealed Friday, April 13 on
Good Morning America, and the season premieres Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC. For more updates,
