One year, at Christmas, I got the flu, serious enough that my doctor wanted to hospitalize me.  this was before my health took the huge nose dive it now is in.  I begged him to not hospitalize me on Christmas.  He prescribed a few things, and gave very explicit instructions.  That year, about 3 days before Christmas?  I was so delirious with fever (was married and had my son, who was in Kindergarten or first grade then) that I went outside, stripped naked, and laid down on the back porch.  In full view of anyone who happened to walk or drive by.  That's when I got trundled off to doctors against my will hehe.   But, he said, and I remember this, that had I gotten the flu shot, my symptoms would most likely have not been so bad.  So I get the shot now, every year I am able to (one year there was a shortage, and I was deemed not in the risk group, becuase I didn't admit to having asthma hehe).

I hope they figure out a way to make the flu shot more effective!  One reason the flu season has been so rough is that it does not work very well.

The last 12y/o boy to die in FL. died from type B which the shot works against. Of course, they didn't give him the shot. I just don't understand people. In the last month or two, I have not had on the tv w/o hearing it is not too late to get the shot.
