Love Island Premiere Recap 08/24/20: Season 2 Episode 1
Host Arielle Vandenberg takes the Islanders through the season's first coupling, and a new Islander arrives leaving the Islanders with a difficult choice."
Host, Arielle Vandenberg welcomes the women; Cely is 24 years old and a legal secretary – she has been single for two years, Justine is 27 years old and billing coordinator – she also works as a go-go dancer, Kaitlynn is 27 years old and she works in promotions – she has been single for seven years, Mackenzie is 24 years old and a full-time student – she is used to dating millionaires, and Moira is 28 years old and a shopping channel model – she had a boyfriend for eight years but not willing to commit.
Arielle welcomes the ladies and sits down for a chat. She mentions that the women have been quarantined for weeks and all tested for COVID. Moira says it is so surreal and the villa is bigger than she thought. Mackenzie says she is in a good position in her life to meet someone. Arielle tells the women that they all look stunning, and it is time to meet the men.
One by one the men are going to enter the villa, and the women have to step forward if they are attracted to them.
Jeremiah is 22 years old and he is a store sales associate – he is a pretty upfront guy and loves a girl who can cook. Justine steps forward, but Jeremiah has his pick of the ladies, he chooses Cely.
James is 27 years old and a personal trainer – he loves tattoos and is very playful and flirty. Nobody steps forward. James still gets to pick one of the ladies, so he chooses Moira.
Tre is 25 and a personal trainer – he thinks he is the total package and is labeled as a player. Nobody steps forward. Tre gets to choose any of the ladies, even those that are coupled up, he chooses Cely.
Connor is 23 years old and an auditor in public accounting – he struggles in the dating world, girls make him nervous sometimes. Mackenzie steps forward. Connor chooses to couple up with Mackenzie.
Carrington is 23 years old and he is a sales manager. He has a lot to offer, he thinks he is sexy and has a great job. He is an alpha, he gets what he wants and does what he wants. Justine steps forward. Carrington chooses Justine.
Jeremiah and Justine are automatically paired up since they are the last singles.
But, Arielle warns, this is Love Island and you never know who is going to walk through the door. Arielle introduces Johnny, he is 22 years old and a student. He has always been in shape, girls love that about him. He has grown up with three sisters and knows how to treat a girl. Johnny, in the next 24-hours, will couple up with one of the women and make one man vulnerable to leave Love Island.
The islanders now check out their new digs. Next, the islanders head outside to get to know each other.
Tre and Cely sit down to talk, he says he had a lot of fun in college. He says he was a football player, she says she was a cheer captain. They had an easy flow conversation, Cely feels like it was a breath of fresh air.
It is evening, the islanders meet for drinks and dancing. Justine and Jeremiah sit down together and talk, there doesn't seem to be any connection with them, in fact, it looks kind of awkward.
James and Moira are getting along, he tells her that he is a huge cuddler, she says she is too. She thinks he is a dream guy, the two kiss over drinks.
Johnny pulls Cely aside to talk to her, he is not too sure who he is going to pick yet, he needs to have more conversations.
The islanders play games that involve randomly kissing each other.
Johnny pulls Kaitlynn aside and showers her with compliments, Carrington steps in and takes Kaitlynn away. He tells her that he wants her to talk to everyone, just in case she has a connection with someone else. But, he is attracted to her and was a little jealous when she was speaking to Johnny. Carrington makes his move, he starts making out with Kaitlynn, she thinks it was nice, he is a good kisser.
Tre sits down with Kaitlynn, he asks her why she doesn't have a man because she is attractive. She says she doesn't deal with lairs. Tre leans in for a kiss and it gets steamy. She tells him he has nice lips. Tre says he would like to talk more another time with her. Kaitlynn thinks Tre and Carrington are tied as good kissers.
Connor tells Mackenzie that he wants their first real kiss to be special. She tells him that his personality doesn't match his looks, there is so much more to him. He asks her if she feels like she is given a fair shot, she says no, she is treated like a trophy. Connor thinks Mackenzie is way out of his league, but he does feel butterflies when he is with her.
Justine is upset, she doesn't have a connection with anyone and feels sad. Mackenzie tells her that it is intimidating, but everyone is feeling insecure. Justine can't believe there is no romantic connection with anyone of the six guys.
Time for bed, the islanders have to sleep with the significant other that they coupled up with. Johnny gets a bed for himself, it will give him time to make his big decision coming up.
Its morning, Johnny says he feels so lonely and out of the loop. Kaitlynn liked her make-out session with Tre, but she doesn't feel a connection with him and she plans on telling Cely that it happened, even though she doesn't want to through him under the bus. Kaitlynn searches out Cely and tells her what happened, and that she is not interested in him. Cely has no idea where Tre's head is at with Kaitlynn and doesn't know what she is going to do.
Johnny sits down with Mackenzie, she tells him that she is feeling Connor. He tells her that he has a difficult decision ahead of her. She tells him that he pretty much has his pick. He says he is hovering over Cely and Kaitlynn. Mackenzie tells him that Tre kissed Kaitlynn privately. He hopes he can come to a decision that best suits his needs, and unfortunately, he has to break someone's heart. Kaitlyn feels like there is a spark with Johnny and is looking forward to any outcome.
Moira and James are sitting by the pool and talking, the two are getting along. Tre and Cely head to the kissing nook, he tells her that she is his choice and he could make her happy, but he doesn't know where her head is. He asks her if there is someone she is leaning towards a little bit more. She tells him that she got along with Johnny a lot.
Cely and Johnny talk, he says he doesn't know what his decision is yet. One thing he doesn't want to do is steal someone away from someone if there is a connection there. She tells him that he is super cool, and she likes him and Tre. But, she wants to be clear, she is not where Mackenzie is with Connor. He says that if he chooses her, he still wants the two of them to explore other people.
Jeremiah and Justine didn't have an immediate connection but the two have started to vibe and decide to make a go of it together.
Connor and Mackenzie are still going well, he asks her to hold hands while they walk around.
Everyone is gathered by the bar, they toast to a good night. It is time for Johnny to choose the girl he wants to couple up with. Everyone gathers around the fire, Johnny is standing facing all of them. He chooses to couple up with Cely.
Tre gets a text, "you are now single, later this week all islanders will take part in recoupling, the islander not picked is at risk of being dumped from the island."
Jeremiah gets a text, he is going on a date with a new girl, Rachel and she is waiting for him in the secret jacuzzi. Carrington gets a text to put on his swim trunks, he is going on a date with another new girl, Kierstan in the secret jacuzzi.
