The team went to Savannah, Georgia in their search for their next great superstar. They went to the same area where "Forrest Gump" was filmed and that was Luke's favorite film. He even did a montage in honor of it. He and his fellow judges were excited to get started. They began with the teenage Cyniah Elise. She was from Atlanta, Georgia and she's been watching the show since she was a kid. She always dreamed of having her start there. She has a leg-up over the others because she already had a video go viral and so she was cementing her position when she pulled off a flawless rendition of "You Are The Reason".

The judges enjoyed it. They gave her the Golden Ticket to Hollywood and then it was Kay Genyse's turn. She came out as a character. She touted she was the full package. She was from Highpoint, North Carolina and she performed the song "Mercy". She threw in facial expressions and some slight dancing. It was a little too much, but it was in line with her personality. The judges liked her as a person and so the judges were unsure of her because of her voice. Her voice wasn't strong enough.

It was pitchy. She needed to do some more work on it before she was ready for something like this show and so Kay begged for the judges to take a chance on her. She promised them she would do anything. So, Katy Perry tested her. Katy brought her outside to the street and she had Kay sing for her life. If Kay could convince the crowd, then Katy was giving her a yes and so lucky for her she did just that. Kay impressed the crowd and that in turn impressed Katy.. Katy gave her a "yes" and so did Lionel. And so Kay is going to Hollywood.

There were a few duds like always. The judges did their best to coach some of them because not everyone knew how to tackle a song and then there was Kyle Tanguay. He was from Rochester, New Hampshire and he was the first male cheerleader to dance for the NFL Eagles team. He took a chance then and so he decided to take another chance now. Kyle has never had vocal coaching. He came to the show green as you can be and he performed "Mercy". The judges ask him to perform the song again at a higher register and only did they give him the Golden Ticket.

American Idol also traveled to Sunriver, Oregon. They met a young man who admitted to being a little lost since he lost his mom and he was in a better place now because he was a father. His son gave Jovin Webb a new lease on life. He was a full-time musician now. He performs all over Louisiana. He was originally from Gonzales, Louisiana. He also performed the song "Whipping Post" and it was a beautiful rendition. Everyone enjoyed it. The judges said he brought BBQ sauce with him because that's what BBQ sounds like and they couldn't wait to hear more from him.

Jovin was given a Golden Ticket. He was a great Blues singer and so now he has to show them that he can do it all. No matter what, Joven was great to watch. It was downhill afterward because the judges later had to evacuate the building. They spelled propane and there was some kind of leak in the building. It was coming from the kitchen. The fire department and they dealt with the problem. They also stayed around for a performance as thank you from the judges. Lionel performed "All Night Long" and he still got it.

The judges next heard from Claire Jolie Goodman. She was a kid from Mount-Prospect, Illinois and she was talented, but she wasn't really there for Pop music. She performed Broadway songs and her aria tonight failed to impress. She deserved to be on Broadway. She has the voice for it and so she was simply on the wrong show. The judges couldn't give her the Golden Ticket.. They suggested she try Broadway and she, in turn, said she'll use the rejection as a story for when she does make it on Broadway.

The judges also ran into a familiar face. Margie Mays came back after she was eliminated in Hawaii and this time she brought her boyfriend Johnny. He played the piano for her as she performed "I Found A Boy". The song probably wasn't the best fit for her. It didn't show off her voice as much as it could and yet her voice sounded better. It sounded better than last year which the judges noticed. They all mentioned and they gave her the Golden Ticket because they wanted to give Margie a second chance.

Her boyfriend Johnny West had his audition right after hers. He came with her last year and he said he had been there to hold her purse. This year was different because he was giving himself a chance. He was also doing it with an original song that had a little bit of everything. There was rapping and there was some soul in there as well. The judges had liked it. They even believed he might get further than Margie on this season of American Idol and so they had been quick to give him.

Sarah went next. She was from Berkley, California. She has two moms and she tracked down her sperm donor father. She then tracks down his other children and so now she's one of twenty-six in all. Ten of her siblings also came with her to the audition. Sarah was close to all of them and she enjoyed being a part of an extended family. The judges even wanted to hear more stories about it, but they also needed to hear her singing and so they listened as she performed "If I Were Boy". And unfortunately, the nerves did get the better of her.

Sarah's voice wobbled when she sang at a higher note. It was her nerves and the judges understood that it was her nerves. They decided to forgive it and they gave Sarah the Golden Ticket. Hopefully, she'll get over her nerves when it comes time to be tested. The person that went on after her was another character. Eliza Catastrophe lived up to her name. She was a hot mess and its astonishing that she ever thought she could sing. Not even the bribes she gave to the judges were enough to forgive that performance and so, of course, they said no. And they turned down hanging out with her.

Then there were some like Julia Gargano from Staten Island, NY. She was genuinely talented and she performed an original song. She also played the piano while doing so and it all because of Catie Turner and Alejandro. They opened the door last season. They showed someone like Julia that there was a place for her on American Idol and Julia even received a hug from Katy after her performance. The judges had to send her to Hollywood. They were looking for originality and she was it. And the judges continued to find talent.

They found a country singer in Curt Jones. He came with his wife Hannah Prestridge and they were a twofer. Thankfully, they broke up their performances so that each could shine and Curt went first. He performed "Help Me Hold On". His wife Hannah went next and she performed an original song. The song was about her marriage with Curt. They had gotten pregnant early into their relationship and a medical condition had sadly gotten Hannah hooked on drugs. Curt could walk away. He could have taken their daughter and instead he gave Hannah an ultimatum.

He asked Hannah to choose her family or her addition and she chose her family. Hannah is doing better now. She put all of her struggles into her music and the judges rewarded her with the Golden Ticket to Hollywood. Her husband, however, didn't get a ticket. It was both a win and a loss for them. But they seem like they can make it work.

THE END!
