I wonder how many years she got? I will miss another season. I liked this show. Thing is I don't know where they could go from there. Maybe corruption in the prison? Woz still doing his thing? Harlees daughter decided to be a cop?
Tonight,
Shades of Blue aired its series finale, and it was officially the episode where Harlee Santos put all of her cards on the table. She spent most of the season battling against corruption under the surface and getting nowhere. Tonight, she leapt completely out of the water and delivered the "ugly truth" to a police commission who, at first, was not altogether interested in listening.
At first, we certainly think that the commission was altogether interested in her testimony. Yet, maybe that started to change when Harlee admitted to her own crimes and wrongdoing as a way to further ensure that her voice was heard and, once and for all, she was firmly believed. She was done with cover-ups, and was ready to expose Ramsey and everything that he had done.
Basically, she was willing to take the fall so that justice could be served elsewhere. The question was whether or not she would spend the end of the series behind bars because of shooting the longshoreman. Even though she did some of her actions on accident, she knew that she had made some mistakes and broke some law. With that, she was ready and willing to take a plea deal. She told that to Woz, and also asked him to look after Cristina for him while she was away.
There were few scenes following this conversation that we certainly did not see coming, most notable Woz killing Ramsey while on the police bus. After this, Woz still decided that he was fine driving Harlee over to prison where she could begin the next phase of her life. The moment between the two on the outside of the jail was rather emotional; we've gone through a lot with these two, and what we always liked about them was that they were two very different people who somehow found a common bond through their work and would do anything for each other. They weren't always ethical, but they certainly were loyal to each other.
CarterMatt Verdict As a whole, we would say that the Shades of Blue series finale delivered a heck of a strong episode. What we did like about it perhaps more so than anything else was that it was that it didn't sugarcoat the consequences for Harlee's actions. she broke the law and, in the end, she was ready to pay for it — even if that meant having to spend time behind bars at the end of it.. Someday, she's probably going to get out and have a second chance at life, and she's prepared and ready for it.
For now, though, it's about penance … and spending a good bit of time within a jail cell.
