Going into
Big Brother 20 , one of the big "twists" to the game for the public was an opportunity to cast votes via the CBS Messenger Bot. It was a chance to shake up how people voted, and that makes sense given the heavy technology theme to this season.
However, it's clear following the premiere that there are some serious kinks that still need to be worked out with this bot, mostly because of the fact that there are some problems with the voting. We've tried to use it on a wide array of platforms and, to date, it isn't quite working according to plan. The rules to use it aren't clear and beyond that, it isn't quite responsive.
Why does this matter so much? It's because this bot is essential to the upcoming BB App Store twist, which could end up rewarding someone in the house who needs it. The person with the most votes can be "trending" and with that, get a power that could help them in the game in some capacity.
Ultimately, there's a tough of humor in all of this — the big technology to go along with the technology theme isn't working. Obviously, there are probably a ton of people over-running the bot's capabilities, but shouldn't you find a way to figure this out beforehand? Why fix something that isn't necessarily broken?
We should point out that CBS is directing people over to the link
here in order to see other voting methods, but we've struggled getting many to work. That could make the start of this game a little bit tricky, given that many voters, especially among the casual community, could give up before we get altogether deep into the rest of the show.
For the record, right now we're totally Team Sam on an advantage, mostly because she's wandering around the game right now in robot form.
