[Reality-TV-Fanatics] 'Survivor: Ghost Island' Recap: The Tribes Merge and Battle Lines are Drawn

I don't think it was a blindside.  I am surprised tho Dom didn't get any votes so by playing that idol was dumb should have waited until the number 6.

On this episode of Survivor: Ghost Island, titled "Fear Keeps You Sharp," the three tribes merge, Wendell and Domenick try to make peace with Chris, one player sneaks out of camp for the chance at a huge advantage and while Chris and Dom scramble for votes, several of the women consider an alternate plan.

It's Day 20, and after two tribal shakeups and the elimination of seven players, it's finally time for the merge. Malolo and Yanuya arrive at the Naviti camp. Right off the bat, Domenick is happy to see Wendall but is less than pleased to be reunited with his arch nemesis, Chris -- the male model in case you didn't know. Domenick hopes that Chris isn't out to cut his throat at this point in the game (hope springs eternal).

A Cold War

The group treks to the other side of the island for the usual merge feast. Along with the food, there are black buffs waiting, indicating that all the players now part of one tribe, Lavita. It's also every man (and woman) for himself. Domenick does a little ass-kissing by proposing a toast. Not only does he cherish the new relationships he's built, but he wants to strengthen some old relationships that weren't so solid. Yes, Chris, that was for you. Domenick feels he's got some options going into the second half of the game. He's in a four-way alliance with Laurel, Donathan and Wendall. In addition, he can stick with the original Naviti members -- as long as Chris doesn't go off the rails.

In the afterglow of a hearty meal, Chris discovers a note in his buff that tells him a secret awaits him at tree-mail. This was an utterly random stroke of luck, and Chris knows that since he's athletic and good at challenges (and humble), he's going to have a target on his back. Chris finds another clue that reveals there is an immunity idol that is good at the next tribal council and possibly more. The only catch is the idol is on Ghost Island. A boat will arrive that night to sneak him out of camp for a fast round trip to find it. He'll be taking a big risk of getting caught just to gain an advantage.

Members of the original Naviti gather together to see if they can just stay loyal to each other for one vote. Wendall offers to act as a mediator between Chris and Domenick in an effort to get the two to put aside their differences. Wendall worries the cold war between the two men threatens to blow up the entire game. Wendall would prefer to avoid the nuclear option.

The three men sit down, and Domenick makes it clear that right out of the gate, he'd like to work together. They can always kill each other later, but Chris is non-committal. Chris hasn't made up his mind what he wants to do. Chris is focused on that immunity idol, and he's unwilling to talk game at this point. Chris thinks he's too suave (although he pronounces it suavay) to fall for Wendall and Domenick's pitch. He's certain they're just trying to be friends now, so they can slash him. As far as Chris is concerned, there's been too much turbulence between him and Domenick, and he wants to eliminate his biggest threat.

No Guts, No Glory

Chris sneaks out of camp in the middle of the night and heads to Ghost Island. Once he arrives, he finds J.T's idol from Game Changers. J.T. left the idol behind and was blindsided at tribal and voted out. The idol has lost some of it's potency though -- it's only good for the upcoming tribal council. So, Chris has to use it or lose it. But wait, there is another twist.

If Chris is willing to risk his vote, he can increase the idol's power. There are 10 bamboo containers, and inside there may be the opportunity to extend the life of the idol by one tribal council. Chris can play this little game of Russian Roulette up to five times, or until he loses his vote.

The Campaigning Begins

Chris decides the reward outweighs the risk and goes for it. He manages to extend the power of the idol for two tribal councils before he loses his vote.

There's tons of strategic chatter the next morning. Chris talks to Desiree, Angela, Chelsea and Laurel about flushing out Domenick's idol. Chris believes the fake idol Domenick showed him was the real thing.

On the beach, Domenick talks to Jenna and Libby and tells them about his idol fake out. He doesn't share that in addition to his cheesy faux necklace, he's got the real thing and the legacy advantage.

These two guys really hate each other, and there will be no peace until one of them leaves. This beach isn't big enough for the two of them. On the upside, for players like Jenna and Libby who are underdogs, this war, this vendetta, this Survivor thing between Dom and Chris is keeping the attention off of them.

The time comes for the first individual immunity challenge. This one is all about endurance. Each player stands on a beam while balancing a statue on a long pole over their head. At regular intervals, they'll move further down the beam, which gets narrower making it more difficult. If at any point, they fall off or lose the statue, they're out of the competition.

Jenna's out first. The following players drop: Donathan, Desiree and Angela. After five minutes, the players have to make their way down the beam without falling or dropping the idol during the transition. Sebastian drops. After 20 minutes, the remaining competitors have to move to the final and most narrow section of the beam. Domenick, Michael, Chris, Wendall and Laurel all fail to make the transition. Only Libby, Kellyn and Chelsea remain. Chelsea's out next, and it's a showdown between Libby and Kellyn. Kellyn wins immunity.

Chris starts campaigning as soon as the group gets back to camp. He takes everyone except for Wendall and Domenick to the well for a water run and strategy session. He suggests everyone splits their votes between Dom and Wendall, guaranteeing one goes home. It seems like a foolproof plan, but not everyone is convinced Dom has an idol. Michael suspects Chris could be lying in an attempt to put a target on Dom's back.

This Time It's Personal

Wendall is sick of Chris' ego and is so ready for him to go that he shares with Dom that he has an idol, and he's willing to use it. Wendall also thinks that Chris' personality is so off-putting, he won't be able to rally the numbers he needs.

Donathan and Laurel are on board with Dom and Wendall, but when Dom suggests recruiting Libby and Jenna, Donathan advises against it.

Wendall talks to Jenna, Libby and Sebastian and puts it all out there. He suspects they could be planning a split vote. But Wendall suggests they don't need to live under a dictatorship, and if they can get Chris out, they can live like civilized human beings.

Kellyn suggests that the Naviti girls all ban together and get a Manolo out, Libby.

The Final Showdown

The time comes for tribal council, and there's blood in the water. Lines will be drawn. Domenick decides to breakdown his tumultuous relationship with Chris -- a hate timeline that starts from day one on the beach. Dom even pulls out his fake immunity necklace and puts it on. He's tried with Chris, but it's go time.

Chris gets a chance to tell his side, and he's still salty that Dom and Wendall tried to vote Angela out which he took as a direct attack on him. In his gut, Chris doesn't feel Dom is trustworthy.

The voting begins, and Dom announces his vote for Chris loud and clear which is stupid because Kellyn brought up a great point during Jeff's Q&A -- the first vote after the merge is crazy, and nobody knows for sure what relics or advantages are floating around. Of course, everyone knows Chris and Dom are going all Thunderdome, so secrecy about voting is pretty much moot.

Domenick reveals he's got the legacy advantage. Inexplicably, neither Wendall or Chris use their idols.

Chris receives seven votes while Libby gets two. Chris' hubris cost him the game. Talk about not being able to read a room. He actually considers this a blindside.
