Were you surprised at the votes and who was booted off

Last time on Survivor: Ghost island, the tribes dropped their buffs and everyone's strategy was upended by the sudden swap. Many who were isolated found new hope, while those that enjoyed being in a top alliance found themselves on the wrong side of the numbers.

In a shocking blindside, Morgan was sent packing from Naviti and was the third person voted out. Before she went, she willed her Legacy Advantage to Domenick.

Naviti Tribe (purple buff)

This episode of Survivor: Ghost Island, titled "Trust Your Gut," picks up right after the vote. The atmosphere at the camp is tense. Domenick asks the Malolo Four if they would like to discuss what just happened, and they politely decline. Angela is furious that Domenick and Wendell both voted for her.

Domenick and Wendell go for a walk and it slowly dawns on them that they are now on the outs with everyone at Naviti. Domenick takes a moment to reveal that he has a real idol, much to Wendell's shock. They decide that together they have a chance, and vow to get it done. I love this bromance!

The next morning, Domenick finds the Legacy Advantage that Morgan willed to him. He vows to reverse the curse, and he feels better about his position in the game.

Reward Challenge

The tribes gather on a sandy island for this grueling challenge. Chris is also there, having spent his sabbatical on Ghost Island without playing a game, and awash in tears from being homesick. Two contestants from each team must try to grab one ring, and swim toward their team's flag pole. Two players from the other team must stop the swimmer. If the swimmer has one hand on the flag pole and one on the ring, they score a point for their team.

The first team to reach three points wins a delectable reward. Probst, doing his best Vanna White impression, reveals a platter with peanut butter, jelly, bread and cold milk. (Seriously?Where is Probst hiding the chocolate?) In addition, the winning team is sending a member of the other tribe to Ghost Island, but that player will return to take part in the next immunity challenge.

Malolo sits out Chelsea. Chris and Wendell score the first point for Naviti, and Angela and Laurel win another point after a bruising round. Manolo scores a point courtesy of Sebastian and Bradley. Laurel (who swims again) is paired with Libby, and after a fierce struggle, they bring home the win for Naviti. I think that only Laurel should get the snacks --she earned it. Naviti decides to go to rocks for the pivotal decision of which Malolo player to send to Ghost Island. Kellyn has the white rock, and she heads off to Ghost Island.

Ghost Island

Kellyn is afraid of being alone on Ghost Island. She smashes an urn and gets a scroll with a message: "Game on. Follow the fire." Thank goodness! I don't think that I could tolerate another lame "no game for you" scroll. Kellyn follows the torches to the game, where she must wager her next vote against winning a secret advantage. There are five Naviti players and four original Malolo players on the new Malolo tribe. Kellyn agonizes over whether to risk losing her vote, and the numbers, for Naviti. In the end, she follows her gut instinct and declines to play the game, and she retains her vote.

Kellyn reflects on how many changes she has gone through in her personal life in the last two years. She had gotten married, decided to leave the marriage, and went back to graduate school. Kellyn is a firm believer in trusting your gut.

Naviti

The whole tribe enjoys their sandwiches while Chris tries to figure out what happened while he was on Ghost Island. Chris believes that Wendel and Domenick voted for Angela because they wanted to pull away all the (imaginary) power that Chris possesses. He brings up the idea of partnering with the Malolo Four to vote out Domenick or Wendell. Chris tells the Malolo Four that Domenick does have an idol, and that they should split the vote between Domenick and Wendell.

Laurel and Donathan would prefer to work with Wendell and Domenick rather than Chris, whose powers of persuasion are grating on everyone. Laurel talks to Domenick and tells him what Chris is trying to do. Domenick confesses that he does have an idol. Laurel thinks that Donathan will vote with them and Wendell. At the same time, further down the beach, Donathan has a chat with Wendell about the same plan. Sneaky!

Immunity Challenge

For this challenge, contestants must climb over a bamboo cage in the water, and dive down to open a door. Players must then pull out a heavy chest and tow it to the beach. Once there, the teams must pull it along a track until they reach a part  of the track where they must toss a ring to pull the next section of track toward them. Then, they must shoot five balls into the air at a wooden arch and catch them on a narrow shelf along the top. Yikes!

Malolo sits out Desiree. The orange team frees their chest first. Naviti struggles with each phase of the challenge. The poor purple tribe is still hooking their section of track as Malolo is shooting the balls. In what I can only classify as a nail biter, Naviti comes from behind and snatches victory away from the orange team. The Naviti tribe pig piles on the ground in a display of joy and utter exhaustion.

Malolo (orange buff)

Back at camp, Bradley, who fancies himself a Boston Rob, feels like he is in control. (I'm sorry -- I can't stop chuckling about the Boston Rob comparison.) Stephanie goes to Bradley and tells him that she wants to stay. She is a single mom and is doing this to win the $1 million-dollar prize for her kids. She sits in the sand and writes "hope." The Naviti Five debate over which original Manolo guy to vote off. Brendan and Michael are the targets. And we are treated to another nugget of wisdom from Sebastian: "I am going with the flow, because the Malolo can go no further low-low than the Malolo low."

Michael and Brendan discuss strategy and tell Jenna and Stephanie about Michael's idol. Michael plans to pull out the idol in the middle of tribal council, stating that he is going to play it for one of the other original Malolo tribe members. So, can Michael reverse the curse from James' idol (Survivor: China?)

Tribal Council

Since the Naviti Five state that they are staying strong, Probst asks Desiree if there is awkwardness at camp and she affirms that there is. Stephanie takes a dig at Bradley, and he fires back about "trying to talk to a number of them as a babysitter." Ouch!

Brendan and Michael tell the tribe that Sebastian and Chelsea are on the bottom of their Naviti alliance. Sebastian thinks that this is interesting. Michael shows the idol and explains that he can play it for two people, which boggles the minds of the Naviti Five. He also says that all of the original Manolo's votes are being directed at Bradley.

Bradley whimpers about his confusion at being singled out as a strong leader (somewhere, sitting on his sofa, Boston Rob is laughing.) Michael invites Sebastian and Chelsea to join them against Bradley. Kellyn points out that if a member of the Naviti Five flips, there is no way that they can make social inroads with the other tribe members.

The Vote

Michael plays his idol for himself, and switches from Brendan to Stephanie. When the votes are read, Brendan and Bradley both get votes. The fourth person voted out of Survivor: Ghost Island is Brendan.
