Big Brother 16 winner Derrick Levasseur will be starring in a new series on Investigation Discovery called The Unsolved.
Investigation Discovery has announced it has ordered The Unsolved, a new series that will star the Rhode Island police sergeant as well as forensic psychologist Kris Mohandie as they answer the pleas of desperate families to investigate murder cases which have exhausted all possible leads and gone cold.
The new original six-part series is currently in production and slated to premiere in April 2018.
"Every year we receive pleas from our dedicated viewers about cold cases that have yet to be solved in their communities; The Unsolved is a direct response to that call," Investigation Discovery executive Henry Schleiff said in a statement.
Derrick's new gig follows his participation in Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence, the network's 2017 mini-series.
"After the success of our OJ special event," added Henry, "we knew that our viewers would embrace the tenacity of Derrick and Kris to give fresh perspective on these tragic crimes where the victims' families have had no closure and the killers remain at-large."
The Unsolved will feature Derrick and Kris as they travel across the United States to investigate six cold cases. The pair will be shown chasing down new clues and reviewing old ones in the hope of finding a break in the case.
Cases will include a serial killer haunting Honolulu that has never been caught and the tragic assault and murder of a girl from Derrick's hometown. Each case explored is still open without any convictions for the crimes.
In each two-hour episode, Derrick and Kris will "scrutinize one cold case in hopes of finding justice for the victims and closure for their loved ones," teases the network.
"Re-examining each crime with fresh eyes and the benefit of more advanced technology, the investigators apply their unique talents and skills to meticulously dissect each critical piece of evidence."
Not only will Derrick and Kris scour the locations of each crime for new information, but they will also sit down with the original investigators in addition to friends and families of the victims to try to uncover new clues that could solve these cases once and for all.
Derrick got his start on TV when he competed on Big Brother at age 30 in 2014 and won the $500,000 grand prize. He quickly became known as one of the best players of all time after defeating runner-up Cody Calafiore in the finale through a landslide 7-2 jury vote.
The Unsolved is being produced by Main Event Media and All3Media America.
