Katy Perry Banning Taylor Swift Songs During 'American Idol' Auditions?

Is Katy Perry really banning Taylor Swift songs during auditions for the upcoming "American Idol" reboot? That's the case according to one of this week's new tabloids, which says the singer doesn't want to be reminded of her rival. But Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we can exclusively set the record straight.
An article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer quotes a supposed "set snitch" as saying, "Katy wants the show to be about finding new talent, not the ongoing drama between her and Taylor. If someone auditioning sings a Taylor song, then the whole thing becomes about Katy's reaction, not the person auditioning." The outlet's alleged source adds, "Katy is insisting on a drama-free 'Idol.' Plus, she's not exactly upset that people will be singing her hits and not Taylor's."
But Gossip Cop checked in with a production insider on the reality competition show, who exclusively assures us Perry hasn't demanded Swift's songs be banned. This article was seemingly concocted to capitalize on the friction between the two pop stars, because there's simply no truth to any of it. Unfortunately, we've already had to bust the Enquirer's sister outlet, RadarOnline, for making up a story surrounding Perry's role on the series, so we're not surprised by this latest phony article.
Gossip Cop recently called out the site for falsely claiming "American Idol" producers warned Perry not to steal the spotlight from the contestants and other judges. Additionally, the Enquirer is no stranger to making inaccurate claims about the singer. Earlier this year, we debunked the magazine's bogus story about Perry having a "breakdown" following her split from Orlando Bloom. Of course, it's very unlikely that an aspiring singer will perform "Bad Blood" during their audition, but there's simply no policy against it. The tabloid's claim otherwise is entirely fabricated.
