I spotted Lex during auditions and pegged him as the winner right then! The top 4 were all so talented I'm sure they'll all get work, but the right one won for sure!

'So
You Think You Can Dance' Season 14 Finale Recap: And the
Winner Is...
Monday,

Kim Stempel
Contributing
Writer, BuddyTV It is finally time to crown the winner of So
You Think You Can Dance season 14. This season has been
stellar, and for the first time in years, there is no clear
frontrunner. I am excited!
So
will Koine "Koko" Iwasaki, Taylor Sieve , Lex
Ishimoto or Chris "Kiki" Nyemchek win the title of
"America's Favorite Dancer" and the $250,000
prize?
Buckle up, dance fans. This is the So
You Think You Can Dance live blog!
The finale kicks off with a Macy's
"extravaganza." The energetic routine is
choreographed by Mandy Moore and features glow in the dark
stars. I love seeing the Top 10 dancers and the All-Stars
back together again.Group Routine: The Opening to the Academy
Choreographed
by Mandy Moore
We
kick off reminiscing about the beginning of the season. This
dizzying piece featured 100 dancers spread out across a
college campus and melded every dance style together into
one joyous performance. It was a great way to kick off the
season.
What
Would Winning Mean?
Each contestant reflects on what winning the grand prize
would mean for them. For Kiki, just participating has
allowed him to believe in himself more. The financial prize
would help both him and his entire family. Koine feels that
it is an honor to be on So
You Think You Can Dance and, as a viewer, would
visualize herself dancing on the stage in front of the
judges. Taylor calls the entire experience
"awesome." Lex declares that winning would be
"a game-changer."
Mary's Choice: Kiki and Koine
Salsa
I
also love this spicy routine, and the tricks are
insane.Vanessa's Choice: Group Performance
Disco
This
piece is full of fun '70s energy, and the costumes are
totally on point.
Nigel's Choice: Lex and
TaylorJazz
This
number is another one of my favorites. Both Lex and Taylor
do a wonderful job of portraying birds in this piece, and
their connection really shines. This time, Lex gets in the
bird cage with Taylor, and they embrace. Nigel is literally
hopping with joy after this encore.Mary's Choice: Group Performance
Hip-Hop
This
piece was Luther Brown's first group number for So
You Think You Can Dance. This African-infused piece is
once again a feast for the eyes.
Vanessa's
Choice: Dassy and All-Star Fik-Shun
Popping
This
routine is fun, and Dassy really lights up the stage.
It's not one of my favorites from the season, but I can
certainly appreciate the vibe between Dassy and
Fik-Shun.Nigel's Choice: Group Performance
Jazz
This
piece, choreographed by Mark Kanemura , is full of energy
and style. From the rose petals sprinkled on stage to the
entrance of one of the dancers being pulled across the stage
on a bed of silk, this number is one of the most creative in
the show's history.
Favorite
Moments
We take a stroll down memory lane with highlights from the
auditions and from the Academy. The dancers this season have
certainly followed Nigel's sage advice to "bloom
wherever you're planted." I am getting a little
misty-eyed.
Mary's Choice: Lex and Koine
Broadway
This
humor-filled routine about the love of pizza is both
memorable and fantastic. Cat shows a clip from rehearsal of
another man standing at the door with the pizza box instead
of Lex. Koine's shock is priceless!New Group Performance: The Top 10 and the
All-Stars
Contemporary
Mia
Michaels mentors Kiki, Lex, Koine and Taylor. This routine
begins with all the dancers seated in chairs. The dancers
soon combine with angry and spasmodic movements, with some
dancers being tossed across the stage. I feel oddly
emotional after watching this piece.Vanessa's
Choice: Robert and All-Star Jasmine
Hip-Hop
This
fresh routine makes dancing in a cloud of hairspray look
fun.Travis
Wall and Lex
Contemporary
In
this new routine, Travis portrays a writer battling against
his inner demons, played by Lex. This dark routine is
amazing! The movements that these two create are incredible.
This number takes my breath away.
Koine and All-Star Marko
Contemporary
This
piece, which takes place in a closet, is Marko's
favorite and one of mine. It is emotional, and Koine really
shines. Both Koine and Marko are teary after the
performance, so Cat lightens up the mood by showing how
badly Koine's name has been mispronounced all season by
everyone.
Lex
and All-Star Gaby
Hip-Hop
Gaby's favorite is their Luther Brown hip-hop routine.
One thing is for sure: both Lex and Gaby have swag for days
in this number.Kiki
and All-Star Jenna
Cha-Cha
Jenna's pick is their sexy and steamy
cha-cha. Kiki and Jenna's chemistry is sizzling. Cat
tells the duo that she is going to miss them dancing
together the most.
Taylor and All-Star Robert
Contemporary
Robert's favorite piece is this Mandy Moore
-choreographed contemporary routine. Taylor seems to glide
across the floor with such ease, and the lifts are
gorgeous.The First Result
Fourth
Place: Kiki
A
Special Performance
Vanessa takes the stage to perform her song with Shawn Hook,
"Reminding Me." It is a nice performance. I was
hoping that Vanessa was going to put her dancing shoes
on
Nigel's Choice: Group Performance (Koine, Kiki,
Mark and Taylor)
Contemporary
This
routine is set to the spoken-word poem by Maya Angelou,
"Still I Rise." Nigel comments that the dance does
not divide us; it unifies us. I agree, and this piece is
stunning and emotional.Results
Third Place: Taylor
The
winner of season 14 is ... Lex!
Koine finishes in second place.
